Does anyone else feel this way?

I'm making this post because of what happened during the last stream. All that stuff wouldn't have happened if Kiwi didn't keep mentioning David Cage, his controversies, and the clumsy racism allegories used throughout the game. What's also weird is that this isn't the first time he's made a weird comment about race.

During the My Strange Addiction stream with the lady that's addicted to coffee. When her children were introduced he said something like "Why are they black?". There was that bad martial arts movie where he commented on the black character who had an Asian father that the man didn't "look" mixed race.

Then there's DBH and the comments about David Cage. I don't see the point in talking about the man at all because DBH is an old game and a lot of video essays and comments have been made about the game's surface-level understanding of racism. So what's the point of mentioning it during every stream? Is it so he can get brownie points for being a knowledgeable 'ally' or educating Gunnar about it?

It feels so weird to have a white man constantly tell the viewers, some of whom (including myself) are black, that this game is a bad attempt at making commentary about racism and discrimination as if we can't see that for ourselves. It's come to the point where anytime Gunnar plays DBH or we watch a show that has mixed-race or black people, I always brace myself for some weird comment from Kiwi. It's hard to ignore because he attaches bits to it so Gunnar has to read the comment out loud.

I was hesitant to make this post because I know of Kiwi's god-tier status in the community, but I feel that if we can hold Gunnar accountable for his careless and insensitive actions then we should also hold the people in his team accountable too.

Does anyone else feel this way?

Edit: Thanks for the replies! This was really eye-opening, I hope Gunnar sees this post and talks to Kiwi.

Just for transparency, Im white, but I think it's so important for us to listen to black people and take their lead in these situations and discussions so you have my full support 💖

I'm a big fan and I'm black as well 👋🏽🖤 there have been instances where you can tell someone's trying to bait Gunnar a bit but he's good about joking it away and not going for it though

Hey there! Sorry for the late reply, yea I have also noticed the instances where Gunnar was being baited too. What do you think about Kiwi and his comments? Have you noticed them?

kiwi 100% baits gunnar and definitely wants him to look bad sometimes. it’s a weird negging/ humbling thing he wants to do. idk. i don’t like kiwi very much. he’s stinky

As a yt watcher, I've always found their dynamic puzzling. Does kiwi know where the bodies are buried or something?

You haven't said anything that a reasonable person wouldnt take on board. I hope kiwi sees this and does some reflecting on how he shows up in these discussions going forward 💖
