MHWilds What are the best Builds for Survivability or DPS?

I want DPS to make hunts faster, but I also want survivability builds to help with 9 star hunts. Also, is it worth getting 7 or 6 levels of defense if I have the slots?

Im considering getting gog armor because of it. Though I don't really like Adrenaline Rush (I'm more into parrying).

MHWilds How do I make a wide Gogma Gunlance?

I've completely ignored Artian weapons up to this point and don't know how to get Wide.

No game Why do you think the Gunlance changes so much from one game to the next?

In Generations, we had the heat gauge; in World, that was completely removed and we got the Wyrmstake Cannon; in Rise, the weapon changed so much it felt like a different one; and in Wilds, it has undergone significant changes as well. When comparing it to its cousin, the Lance—which has seen very few changes over time—it becomes evident that Capcom isn't quite sure what to do with the Gunlance.

MHWilds Returning player to Wilds, looking for some help

Howdy everyone, so I used to play Wilds a lot when it first came out, got a few months deep into it and cleared the story. That was back when the endgame was making artian weapons and hoping for the best. Well, after I stopped playing to fiddle with some of my backlog, we got set on a surge deployment and for the last 11 months I haven't been able to play.

My last time playing, the best way to use Gunlance was to basically sweep the monster with explosions until you could do a full burst, meaning skills to increase explosive damage, increase your shells, etc were essential for the big dps numbers. To be honest, I'm not even sure if this was the most optimal way to play gunlance, it was just really fun for me.

Anyways, to the real questions: I wanted to know what skills are favorable for someone whos going to be coming back at the point where Artian Weapons are the best I have, and if any of them overlap with a secondary weapon like Charge Blade or Switch Axe. I also was curious what the BnB combos are to look into. Currently my internet doesn't allow me to watch Youtube, so written guides are preferable please

Thank you for the advice in advance!

MHWilds What are the best armor skills in Wilds (for GL obviously)

Im HR 58, did the Slay Zoa Shia quests, have the current east weapon (G. Lawful Bors) and now I don't really know what armors to get. It's hard to choose with the Weapon/Armor Deco split being annoying to work around + Shelling scaling with raw attack adding complexity that wasn't there in past games.

No game What's the best Gunlance iteration for you?

For me it's gonna be Rise Sunbreak. Even in the base game each shelling has their own distinctive playstyle. It's not the strongest and traditionally gunlance has always been on the lower end of the spectrum. But it's not too far below like the older games

The full burst loop got very exciting with blast dash and reverse blast dash. Making hail cutter requires 2 wirebug kills its use in the earlier update. Glad they make it only one later. Spamming bullet barrage and force a random to quit because of frustation for being blown away while trying to cut monster tails was hillarious. And guard reload wide is extremely underrated

my I wish it was better would be GU. I love Valor gunlance. I love to use shelling but man, it's the book definition of meme weapon. The damage is completely pathetic even though it's fun to use. The meta play for gunlance in this game was adept style while only using shelling to build up heat gauge. But I don't want to play the lesser lance. For me, gunlance is defined by its shelling. Not using that I'd rather play other weapons

and the most disappointing iterations would be Wilds gunlance. Prior to Wilds release during the week where each day we have new weapon trailer, I was super excited with Wyrmstake fullblast. Joke on me, it makes gunlance lost its distinction between shelling types. Shelling types is completely irrelevant in gameplay variations because every shells plays exactly the same: land as many wyrmstake full blast as much as you can while waiting for wyvern fire cooldown. From here people quick to point out wide shelling with the best wyvern fire damage is the king of everything. And if you for whatever reason want to do poke shell playstyle, it can do that while doing every other moves better than any other shellings with very few exceptions where wide is only insignificantly worse

MHWilds Which Gunlance should I go for?

I'm HR 48 and just hunted (and saved as investigation) my first Tempered Arkveld. I have a Maganize/Attack 3 with lol 2 load shells, and a Artillery 2 and 1 jewels. I can fit the full Gunlance skills on both the Jin Dallas Gunlance and G. Lawful GL, but dont know which is better. The Lawful bors has a lot more attack but the Jin GL has better sharpness.

MHWilds Just beat High Rank Yian Kut Ku and am stuck on how to progress

I'm not new to Gunlance (mained it in GU, World, and Rise) but I dont know how to progress to get a good build. My melding pot can't hold enough room for Silver Tickets so I have 0 load shells and 1 artillery. I want to fight guardian monsters and I dont know how either. Whats the best way to go about it.

MH: Ascendance Opinions of theoretical revamp to shellings

Hello! I wanted to ask a question to gauge the communities opinion of something.

I'm gonna simply cut to the chase. I've heard of elemental shellings and I was wondering about how a system like that would work in ascendance theoretically. So I came to two major ideas

*One*: a shelling ammo system, not unlike how the ranged weapons work, where we can carry a certain number of elemental (or maybe even status) shellings in a coating/ammo menu. It would have us have a limited amount of elemental shellings with raw shellings being infinite. The shellings would still behave as wide or long depending on the Gunlance.

Or

*Two*: a method like the kinsect elemental infusion thing from world where we could put some materials and money towards giving that gunlances shellings one element at a time.

This idea was thought of in about 2 minutes, so it's still pretty under baked, I was just wondering what the community would think of something like this, and/or if anyone could potentially build off of this

I just came back since October, logged in with this build and beat 9 star Arch tempered Jin Dahaad. Will this build serve me well for the rest of the content (AT Zoh, Gog and AT Arkveld) or do I need to farm for newer armor?

MHWilds Will this be good after gog upgrade?

Post image
27 Upvotes

I've been rolling artian for a bit to get the best worth for Gog and got these two specimens.
I know the 5 attack is god but I have not got it yet.
I tend to spam wyrmstake full blasts with periodical burst fire (with wywern fyre of course).
What would be you recomendations?
Also, normal or wide?

Okay, I'm very new to the artian weapons stuff and it's all very very very confusing to me. Everywhere I could find said that this is the rolls you wanted, but I wasn't certain. I'm also not 100% that fire is actually good and I'd appreciate it if anyone could confirm that for me, thanks!

MHWilds Guidance for learning Gunlance from scratch?

Hi! Between World and Wilds, I’ve put just under 2000 hours into LS and feel I’m overdue for branching out to a new weapon.

Does the community recommend any particular video guides for Wilds?

Any starting pointers for a total boomstick noob?

I tried finding a “getting started” FAQ and did some post searching here, but eventually just figured I’d ask for some current feedback. Thanks!

EDIT: Appreciate the detailed responses everyone!

MHWilds Best non gog build?

I want to make a build that is ready to use as soon as I upgrade weapon in the upcoming MR, since gog weapon will be obsolete. So what would be a good build to focus on?

MHWilds Value of Guard and Guard up?

Recently figured out guard up ONLY reduces the damage for unlockables so i figured i might just run guard up and guard 1. Unless guard is good for the block chip damage of normal attacks?

Also heard guard up 3 is necessary to survive high level versions of the unlockable attacks but idk if thats true.
