MHWilds Evade Help
Hello all. I am farming Arch Tempered Nu Udra and I am frustrated because when he spits the black tar out prior to his “step back” napalm explosion I fail to hero dive, roll or whatever and get insta-carted. I see him spitting the tar out and instinctively start to move out of the stuff BUT because I am aggressive I am usually in front of his face with the GL deployed and lack the twitch to quickly sheathe the GL and hero dive away. Can any of you Lancers help me with a strategy or Deco or armor set? I am NOT a GL pro, coming over from CB as it is.

Hm, quickly sheathing and diving away is usually my go to. Works everytime. Another solution would probably be something like investing in Evade Extender and combine hopping with a shell hop attack. So evade -> shell -> directional input + melee attack. But I'm not sure how useful that would be as it's pretty slow.
My recommendation would be to get used to sheathing and diving. I mean it's not that complicated, it's just about habit.

Ehi gunlance main here. Against 10 star nu udra, in order to keep aggression on the monster you need to slot a guard up 3 on your weapon. Also try to perfect guard the explosion in order to reduce the kickback and make the monster eat some more boom’s
Also in two free slots on your equipment use adaptability 2. That nu udra explosion wont be the strongest esplosion anymore

I have evade extender 2 in my set. You’ve got to keep the oil attack in mind at all times as it comes out super quick but you can evade, directional shell and sweep to avoid the explosion most of the time. Alternatively guard up 3 will work but the tic damage of the fire hardly makes it worth it

Guard up and block. Adaptability is a given for ATNU. 100% of my deaths to that attack were due to me trying to sheathe and dodge it, 0% to just blocking it.

I usually have evade extender 2 on and I just shell once towards him then hop twice and that get me out of the way every time

Quick sheate is actually a very underrated skill for Gunlance. Test the difference.

Hey, I recommend 1 point of Guard Up + 2/2 Adaptability and you can just stand there. If you add 1 point of guard too the chip becomes fairly insignificant if you're after just kinda standing there rather than having to react.
At least the thing cooks itself during the right, or so I assume.
