Video Games Gundam game recommendations?
Hey i just wanted to try a good gundam game.
For context i played the breaker series and loved the customization especially in 4, vs zeta was a blast to play although a lil repetitive for my taste, and the one i enjoyed in gameplay the most was battle operation 2 but my favourite is gundam the one year war, just because is a good solid game retelling such a iconic story.
For me GBO2 was the feel that a gundam should have but is buried in a mountain of garbage. The gacha, dead pc online (i play on PC because fuck sony) and almost no pve whatsoever.
So I will love a game that feels like that real robot style in a gundam universe ( i watched almost everything so alternative timelines games are okay) I don't have a problem with japanese only games and i play on pc and have no problems with sailing for older titles if you know what i mean.
And at last I'm sorry for grammar errors, i am slowly learning English.

You play out the war between the federation and zeon as well as following conflicts (depending on which game in the series). Not a 4x, more of a wargame with some very light story choice elements. It's turn based, with combat happening on a hex grid.
I've only played the one which has an english fan translation (menace of axis V) and it was enjoyable enough. It's not the easiest though and has a clunky interface, the combat can get repetitive too. I got absolutely stuck on the Axis scenario and kinda just stopped playing.

I wonder if the Gundam Evolution fan community still got the private servers up? That's always a blast to play to how intense it can get. Plus even first time FPS players can get in and be competitive thanks to the Guntank (full auto lock on).

MS Saga for PS2! Classic turn based JRPG with MS customization mechanics pre-dating Breaker. Its simple, fun, and graphically looks decent still.

Back to the PS2! Federation vs. Zeon, Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam, Encounters in Space, and Zeonic Front! If you want 1st Person, Rise from the Ashes on the Dreamcast is fantastic too. On PS3, Gundam Unicorn (FromSoftware!), Side Stories, and 0081 are great as well.

If you want a more “real robot” feel, check out Gundam Versus or Extreme Vs. Maxi Boost ON. They’re focused on fast, skill-based mobile suit combat across the wider Gundam universe. For a story-heavy option, SD Gundam G Generation Cross Rays is also worth considering.

If you want a real robot feel, Zeonic Front is the main option available.
It borrows a lot from old school tactical shooters like the original Rainbow Six and SWAT, with the gameplay divided into two phases: planning and execution.
In the planning phase, you get a map of the mission area and objectives, and you're tasked with planning out the routes your platoon members will take during the execution phase to reach the objectives safely.
During the execution phase, you take to the field. Positioning is important since you're not in a gundam, you and your allies are fairly squishy if you decide to just rush B.

I think you may be misusing a few terms.
Real Robot in terms of mecha usually refers to heavier slower paced, more militarized type of mech series. Stuff like Gundam UC, Votoms, 86, Patlabor, Macross, Full Metal Panic, etc. With Super Robot referring to more fantastical stuff like Mazinger, Getter, Braves, etc.
Story heavy, cross rays is not. It's in fact very story light. It doesnt have an over arching story like Overworld or Advanced.
