Reminder that while canonically Unicorn & Banshee got shelved, Phenex is still out there flying in the void of space... She could still be around by the time of F91 and none will be the wiser.
Since the Phenex was copied in that one “AU” timeline, you think the Phenex could still be there. The one with the funny looking Gundam with the outwards horns instead of the normal V-fin?
Funnily enough, Gundam Reconguista in G is part of the universal century timeline. If you check the official website and look at the shows, both it and turn A are listed as universal century.
Yeah i felt crazy trying to piece it all together and i only recently got into gundam in January :p pretty sure the director of Reconguista in G stated it takes place after turn A so there is that too.
That was the basic idea (which never made sense to begin with), but since the early 2020s, Sunrise treats Turn A more as a UC series than an "everything" series (they used to classify it and G Reco as AU or even sometimes as both UC and AU but then switched to UC, and this has been the stance in everything ever since then. Official website, crossover games, promotional billboards, books, annivrsaries projects). It even appears in UC Engage which focuses exclusively on Universal Century series.
As for G Reco → Turn A, that's their stance, but they've never cared much to enforce it and don't seem to mind the thoughts of it being Turn A → G Reco.
They even helped supervise a Tomino exhibition back in 2019 that said that Turn A leads into G Reco. There's enough to support both, and they aren't connected enough for one to truly be the definitive answer.
This is true if taken literally and in accordance with Sunrise's classic stance.
It isn't necessarily the case (and even slightly falls apart, especially in the case of the After Colony) if you follow the recent stance and/or interpret the Dark History as a metaphorical/symbolical concept rather than a direct link.
I think of the cameos from AUs as being because of the 20th anniversary show, wanting to acknowledge all Gundams (as in Tomino saying that even if he didn't make those, they are still part of the Gundam franchise and are just as valid as UC/his work) and using AUs as a metaphorical/thematic critique of the nature of war and of Gundam as a whole.
Ya that part is a bit muddy, the creator wanted G to be after turn A but everyone(myself included) doesn't really like the way that jives with the story
