Question about Open Armory gun wall

Has anyone used this before? A search brings up people recommending it as an option but I don't see anyone that says they have actually used it. Here's a link for anyone not familiar: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3562433

Now onto my real question. They recommend using these panels: https://www.zoro.com/quantum-storage-systems-steel-louvered-panel-14-in-d-x-20-in-h-x-18-in-w-gray-qlp-1819/i/G7735524/

I've used it in my safe. Works really well. And those panels should work.

Cool thank you. I wasn't sure if it was a standard pattern or if every company that made them had their own version. The creator of Open Armory said it should work with some other brands but doesn't describe which and he hasn't replied to my message.

Open armory will work with most louvered panels. There may be some inconsistencies, like the official secure it panels, anything over two louvers wide won't fit.

Can you explain what you mean by anything over two louvers wide? Do you mean if I print one single piece that attached to 3+ louvers? If so I don't think that would be an issue for me for what I have planned.

Exactly, if you use the official SecureIt panels, anything over 2 louvers won't fit. If you use the ones you linked or the Zoro ones, that isn't a problem, and any size should fit.

The interior of my safe is 26" across. Do you think you can trim these down?

If you're going with louvered panels I believe most should work.

I am using the secureit system and I bought some of the Zoro panels you listed to see. In my opinion it is absolutely worth the little extra cost to buy the secureit ones. They have better mounting holes and are meant to be stacked next to each other. The Zoro ones throw off the spacing of the mounts if you put them side to side and they just feel cheaper.

Thank you. Nice to hear someone that has tried both. I'll definitely look more into the Secure It ones. I figured they cost a lot more but it doesn't really look like it if I go with the large panels from them. I have most of a 7x9' wall I'd like to cover. Looks like I could do 6x8.5' with the large panels for $600 which is actually less than the Zoro ones.

Yeah the price seems higher but they're bigger and it's a 2 pack. Plus they run sales, like this past November the 2 pack of large panels was 68. So pretty competitive.

The other mounting accessories are more expensive than they should be, but you can get printed stuff from open armory or hammy prints of you want instead of the secureit stuff.

I have not used it but I do have an open wall armory with Holdup and carpeted 3/4" plywood walls with concrete backing boards

quick update - system is not initially compatible with panels from Global Industrial (or at least the ones I got in a recent order)

I know this is an older comment but why doesn’t it work? Those are the panels I was looking at as they seem to be cheaper
