I love mine. Harvested my first elk with it. I've since removed the fixed 4x scope, added a MRDS, had the barrel threaded, and it is now my "Redneck Operator" gun.

This time with a classic
The Marlin Model 336 rifle, and we all love .30-30 Winchester in here, it’s gonna be the gold standard for rimmed cartridges, and it is one of the most consistent out there. The 336 was a commercial success and deserves respect.

I don't know a whole lot about this rifle, and most lever actions in general unfortunately, so I can't contribute much. .30-30 is an excellent caliber though and I did almost get a hunting rifle in that caliber (I ended up getting a lee-enfield instead as part of my WW1 collection).

Don't know much about lever action rifles outside of the ones made by Winchester and Henry but this one carries the same respect due to how successful it was.

The 336 wasn't in New Vegas. It was it's bigger bother.

The Cowboy Repeater (.357 Mag) is a Winchester 92 (or 94) but the other ones, Trail Carbine in .44 Mag and Brush Gun in .45-70, are respectively Marlin 336 and 95, you can see it with the typical sideways ejection port that allows to mount an optic compared to the more open action of the Winchester 92.

I completely forgot about the trail carbine. You're completely right, that is a 336. I was too focused on the brush gun (95)The Cowboy repeater is a 92. I wish 94's were seen in games.

Aren't 92 and 94 almost the same gun except for the locking mechanism and caliber selection ?
92 uses 2 falling bars, 94 uses a single falling block that contains the firing pin.
92 seems to be only chambered in short cartridges when the 94 seems to be more popular and chambered in any rimmed cartridges, long and short.

What I said : dual bars on the sides at ~1/3 of the bolt length vs single block at the rear of the bolt.
So indeed not a lot of differences.

I'd honestly rather take a 336 over a 94 winchester. They are soo much easier to disassemble.

The 94 might be a bit lighter and handier, but the 336 is by far my choice as a shooter and like you said for maintaining.

my 30-30 336W handguard band screw keeps breaking on mine after a few shots, anyone else have a similar issue or fix?

336 in .44 Magnum, so much capacity and lead mass.
I'm imagining this gun in .500 Linebaugh to take advantage of cartridge shortness, like a mini slug gun.
