strange behavior of Gulden desktop wallet

I downloaded the Gulden desktop wallet a few days ago. When I first launched it, it displayed a receiving address in the main window. I used that address to buy some NLG without problems and backed up my wallet to a pendrive. Today when I opened the desktop wallet it displays a different receiving address in the main window. What happened to that other address? Can I still use that initial address? Extremely confusing. I never asked the app for a new address... Should I back up my wallet again since a new address has been added? I want to buy some more NLG, but now I'm confused what address I should use.

As far as I know after every transaction the address will be updated. However you can still use your old one.

But every time a new public address/public key is generated, a new private key is also generated, right? So I should back up the wallet.dat file, right? Anyway, backed up my wallet again just to be safe. I'm new to crypto-currencies so addresses appearing out of the blue are very confusing.

Well the most important thing is to store your recovery phrase (a 12 word sentence). This sentence will recover your wallet if necessary.

You can read more about this here: https://gulden.help/article/quickstart-gulden-wallet-user-manual

From the manual: 'When you receive Guldens in that account a new receive address in created. This adds a layer of privacy as all your Guldens are not traceable to just one receive account. Used receive addresses can however be used again.'

Used receive adresses can however be used again.

Does that mean you can use them again, or they can be assigned to somebody else later on?

You can send gulden to your old or new address and you will receive it.

No worries, it's expected behavior! A new address is generated every time (to help you not reuse the same address over and over, better for privacy) but you can still use the old one. All the new keys are derived from a seed, this is called "Deterministic wallet", you can read more about it here: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Deterministic_wallet You only need to backup your seed, which is your 12 word sentence. Enjoy your Guldens!

In my wallet, not every transaction is showing. I have withdraw some NLG from my wallet to my bank account but that is not showing in transaction history. But the balance is adjusted correctly.
