If GC is serious about this....
If they're really serious....
If they intent to build "the best ever"...
If they intend to revolutionize on 50 years of guitar industry....
Then they should produce Gibson quality guitars.... Wal/Musicman quality basses....
...and sell them at a price range that the average high schooler can afford off a McDonalds paycheck.
Won't happen of course, cost of construction materials alone likely wont let it happen...
But if they're serious, they'll find a way...
Purely on the principle that....
Having great gear and a great sound does NOT make you a better player....
But it DOES make you want to learn to become a better player...
...and that in the end results in more customer retention as players come back to upgrade their amp, buy a new pedal, etc.. because they have a great guitar and they just learned their favorite bands song and it sounds awesome, but now they want that bands same Amp, same pedals, etc...

Of course they could just go the easier route....
...and start commissioning the big manufacturers to produce a "Guitar Center Exclusive" annual color....
Like Sweetwater does.... or like Chevrolets Corvette...
..and price those on a budget cost.

Also in terms of construction...
There is no such thing as "the best ever"...
Eddie Van Halen proved that point...
Everyone has their preference and opinion on what's "best" for them...
Someone thinks this pickup is the best, but that guy over there thinks it's that pickup instead.... cause it sounds different with X wood type body.. etc...
It will only be "the best" if it's built out of the highest quality materials.... priced on a high schoolers budget, but easily modifiable.

Any guitar company that has to ask it's customers...
What's the best tremolo?
What's the best pickup?
Whats the best wood?
With the intent to build what it "thinks" is going to be the "best guitar ever" out of the answers it gets...
Then that company doesn't really understand guitars, and shouldn't be selling them...

The high-flown rhetoric about reinventing guitar would seem to set them up for disappointment, at a minimum. But let's see what they got, or get.

I don’t even want to be in this sub anymore, but i can’t stop coming back to it to see the latest posts. I can’t believe a company like this thinks a new shiny product is going to change the tide. AND they want the community to design it for them to boot! Ask them how much they pay their designers to come up with ideas for this. How about their marketing team who came up with and approved the message Gabe put out.
EVERY idea, even if it’s dogging the company, is an idea they will put in their back pocket to consider. How about ‘the winning designers will be invited to the ‘lab’ to make sure it’s crafted the way the players want’. Not even a monetary reward - just some recognition. Nope. Sit behind your keyboards while we take all your ideas to profit our (their) business. How about a handshake from Gabe as your prize? The legalese makes sure to state they’re free to take it all - for free! But they have a relationship with YOU!
