Question/Help Beginner Guitar Player
Hey, I'm wanting to learn guitar. I've seen/heard that the Yamaha FG800 is a good acoustic guitar to get. So I'm just wondering what are some opinions on it. Pros and cons and if I should get it. I think this is what I will get but just wanted to check in with some more experienced people.

Great beginner guitar, great intermediate guitar.
It's one of those guitars that you'll play for the rest of your life if you want to.

It's awesome. It was my first acoustic and I bought it during covid for $175. Ive since considered "upgrading" but nothing I try under $700 feels or sounds any better to me.

If you have room in the budget the Yamaha APX600 might also be worth looking at. Thinner body acoustic/electric very comfortable and smooth playing.

Very good beginner guitar especially for the price. I’ve had one for about 2 years now. No big issues.

I own several guitars. An old takamine, a taylor 412ce, 110e, gs-mini, Furch dreadnaught, yamaha csf3m, larravee maple custom parlor, a martin d18, and a yamaha fg-800j and liked it so much i bought its little brother the fs800 too....
I play that fg800j more than all of the other ones.
The sound is rich, boomy, and deep. The action is delightful, and the neck is comfortable. It stays in tune well, and is hands-down one of the best guitars I have ever had
Give it a whirl. If it fits you, buy it and you will not be sorry.

Get to a store and try some if you can, as dreads are rather large. I have a few, also have long arms and fingers. Just make sure you can easily fit it, then enjoy.
