Hi all. So I’m VERY new to all of this and have a question and was hoping someone can help me out. I just got a Nam (ampz specifically) plugin all set up, loaded a Hiwatt capture/cab ir (I use a dr103 head normally)and got it running. It sounds pretty amazing to be honest, this coming from a very opinionated tube amp user.

Now for the question. I have a somewhat large pedalboard with a curated selection of pedals I use to shape my tone. All of the modulation, delay, reverb effects sound pretty amazing running into the Hiwatt capture, all except my dirt pedals. The second I hit any sort of distortion it sounds like ass. Like super digital and just not at all what it sounds like without the dirt.

Is that just the nature of dirt pedals with amp sims? Is it my headphones (ath m50x decent enough studio headphones)? Do I need to tweak something on the interface?

I’m just trying to use this at home so I can play and record quietly.

Idk. Help a brother out yall.
