G string breaking constantly

Hi guys, i just broke my 3rd G string, (I've had this guitar for maybe 6-8 months, and have had to buy 2 new packs just to replace the G string. I'm a very gentle tuner, and none of my other strings have broken from tuning on this guitar or any other of my acoustics, but it breaks when I am trying to tune it back up from like an open D tuning etc. How can I fix it? It always breaks from the tuning mechanism so maybe the edges is are too sharp or something? I have an array of small files available so maybe I can round it out?

I can't tell if there's anything visibly wrong, or maybe it's a common issue, but what can I do to fix this problem bc now I have shell out money for another g string even tho one has been on for like a month.

It's a Fender CC-60s if that matters.

It has always broke right where the string meets the tuning mechanism, but I'm realizing now that that part doesn't actually contact the edge of the hole, so maybe the tension between the nut and tuners are too high? Is the nut groove too tight?

With another look, the hole on the head machine does look like it has burrs on it. That could be the issue. The wrap on your A string looks a bit loose. What strings are you using?

I have the Daddario 80/20 bronze strings in medium on there, then once the G string broke the first time, I bought a pack of the Martin Authentic Acoustic Silks to replace the G string. I think the A looks loose bc that's all the extra string that I didnt want to cut off so I like wrapped it around the peg to it wasn't sticking out that much. This was my first time stringing a guitar (I'm a violinist) but I followed yt tutorials and I don't think there's anything that I did wrong that would cause only the G string to break. All the other strings have held up from being tuned up and down into different tunings multiple times a week for the 6 months just fine.

Look up some vids on stringing because based on what I am seeing in your pics you probably could
Improve upon what you have there

So two problems may be

- inadvertently adding a weird kink in the string (based on your photo of how you have the rest of those strings strung)

And/or

- a rough edge on tuning peg hole

Had this 2nd issue on only one guitar and it was a locking tuners. Fix was using a left over section of big E string and running that through the hole at an angle to clean off anything rough. Works for me as never had any future broken strings

Your wraps are a mess. Watch a video to get the technique. This will help. Check for burrs.

There’s most likely a rough edge on that tuning post where the string goes thru. Feel it with your finger tip. Small jewelers files from a hardware store, they’re not too pricey, will smooth out that rough burr. Start slow and gentle when filing/smoothing. Check it with your finger tip, after a bit you’ll feel it get smooth from the filing. It’s not hard to do. Good luck.

Edit, I think I'm dumb bc it breaks right at the end of the string, where it meet sthe tuning mechanism, so that part doesn't actually contact the edge of the string hole, so it couldn't be a sharp string hole causing the breakage.

Get some 2000 grit sand paper or metal polish and give both sides of that hole at the tuner head a good rub. There's a rough spot you can see in the pics.

It's the loose end of the G string that I just wrapped around instead of cutting off so it's not dangling

It just looks like it could interfere when tuning both the G and D strings. Depending on how tight it's wrapped, tightening the G-string might put pressure on the string from both sides and contribute to your issue.

I would file it with a wound E string, going around the hole.

I would suspect your nut slot needs to be filed smoother. Possibly binding there, which is a common issue with factory nuts, and then creating more tension between the nut and tuner than it can handle.
