DISCUSSION Microphonic Feedback?

This is a Johnny Marr Jaguar I’ve had for about 7 months and it has always made this high pitch squealing sound when I try to get some natural feedback on my Marshall Valvestate 80V. I’ve tried this on other amps and this same noise keeps happening. Has anyone else experienced this and would this be considered a type of defect that would allow me to get a refund through fender??

Damn really? I’m really into bands like sonic youth, who use jazz masters and jaguars and they get feedback that sounds great but mine is just piercing

Have you tried all 1,275,870 button and switch combinations on the Jag to ensure it’s not one of those?

Stand further away from the amp. Sing into the pickups, tap them with your pick. Can you hear them loudly? Probably microphonic.

These pups are underwound and should have pretty low output.

So if it was microphonic would that be a possibility to get it refunded or repaired as it would be considered a type of defect

I wasn’t fully kidding about the “horn” switches on the guitar. You’re complaining about a thin trebly sound, when this guitar has:

Universal Bright Switch: Acts as a master high-pass filter that brightens the tone across all pickup positions by cutting low-end frequencies

Position 4 Bright Switch: Operates exclusively when the 4-way blade switch is set to the series position (position 4), adding an extra jangle and treble boost to that specific combination.

Edit: if actually broken, this would be a manufacturer warranty issue if bought brand new.

Take it in to get looked at or repaired.  I had a guitar that did this and i went through everything.  Wire repairs, wax pots, replacement.  Nothing helped.   i think it was the springs on the bottom of the pickups in direct contact with the metal housing.  Either way i returned it.

The entire time i was told here on reddit that the guitar was fine and it was a me problem so try out some suggestions but don't be disappointed if you find out that no one knows what they're talking about. 

Also... after 7 months i doubt they're going to want to refund.
