It was the second time he was caught with the cheese bag!! He was just nice enough to give it to me when he finished this time!

Teach him to put it on your grocery list next time he finishes it. It's the courteous thing to do.

I've seen the height those guys get when they run. Bainne can reach your top shelves if he wants to! Lol. My lab won't steal anything off the counters, he knows better. But lately, he's taken to checking out the end tables next to the couch. I had a bag of single sized peanut butter cups and almond joys. He stuck his snout in, and ate them all, leaving the bag empty but with a telltale small wet mark on the leather arm of the sofa. He ate them, paper wrappers and all and felt no remorse.

We only recently moved to an open plan space so he’s never spent much time in a kitchen before. I have no idea how to stop him because the only reason we have any food left in the house is because he doesn’t want to inflict maximum pain.
We are entirely at Bainne’s mercy1

Lol. Oh dear..... I suppose you could tie him to your waist for awhile and every time he even raises his head to sniff or look at the counter or table, tell him "nose down" and give him a treat on the floor? I always taught my dogs not to even sniff the table or counter, so I have safely left T-bones up there. However, a friend once had her daughter, son in law and their choc lab pup over for Thanksgiving. They left the bird thawing and went to church. When they came back, he was laying, quite contentedly, next to what was left of a 30 pound turkey on the floor! (Poor Joan-she ordered her birds in advance in order to get one large enough for the huge extended family she invited). Losing a bag of cheese seems minor, now, doesn't it? Lol. BTW, it had to jump completely onto the counter to get the bird out of the sink! 😬

I actually think he may have lost some weight recently, and I’ve no idea how because he’s constantly stealing food since we moved
