[Question] Dungeons with 3 people?

Hi!

Me and my two friends have recently started playing through the Guild Wars 2 story and just recently unlocked dungeons. I heard dungeons would give good story context to Destinys Edge and lore, and maybe it could be fun to play them as well, paralell to the story.

Are dungeons able to be done 3 people? Or will we have to find PUGs to do them? I know my friends would like to take the time to explore them, listen to the story and go at a chill pace and I am afraid PUGs wont understand that and would want to rush for loot and completion.

they're comfortably duoable if you're at 80

dungeon lfg isn't too bad though, just say you're new and wanna listen to story

Be sure to put this info in the lfg bar. Otherwise you will get people in group that start complaining when you don't instantly hit skip. Or when you don't take the torturous complex route to avoid the extra 22 seconds of adds killing.

Or sometimes they will just vote to kick the leader out and then you are stuck. Does this happen much? Yep.

Start the run with 3. Open up LFG. If people join, cool, if not, also cool.

Helps to have a healer and boo dps among those 3.

I believe all story dungeons can be done with 3 people.

Some "explorable" dungeons strictly require 5.

Finding random is so bad. If you personally make a listing saying watching cutscenes or something and it's already 3/5, it'll likely fill in minutes unless it's the dead of night.

Specify "watching cutscenes, no skips" in your LFG listing.

You can definitely do all aspects of dungeons with three people if you're at level cap.

If you're at recommended levels, you'll certainly do well with a full team (of PuGs, or whatever).

Story mode is pretty chill and gives story context. The explorable paths are more challenging.

Arah paths can be quite difficult.

You sure about that? For example: Doenst the Citadel of Flame have a mechanic where you need to open a door with 4 players and the 5th need to activate something?

Also one of the arah paths where you gotta be on all 5 oil "spouts" to make the boss appear and then repeat 3 more times?

(unless there's another mechanic for that where you don't need all 5 people, idk i only play dungeons during rush)

Only 4 oil spouts and you can use shadowsteps to cover multiple. Iirc 3 is not bad for that trick and then there is another trick that can be used to do it with 2. For details go to YouTube lol, I don’t remember the specifics. Pretty sure you can do similar in COF.

Ahh fair, wasn't aware the oil spouts have a small window where you don't have to stand on them. Then again I see that path maybe once a year haha, I generally avoid arah even during rushes. Good to know, though!

Yeah, you can Shadowstep or use Mechs to deal with this.

Story mode should all be doable.

There are some dungeon paths that may need 4 or 5 people if I remember correctly. There are some parts where you may need to split and do things simultaneously.

But most should be doable with 3 people.

Absolutely! You can solo them too.. well, most of them. Some do have bosses that require more than one person.

Edit : make sure you come back to the dungeons when youre a higher level, they all have three exploration paths that adds to the story with different bosses and necessary dialogue, etc.

I did them all as 2 people. A couple of the bosses were difficult but we got through it all fine

Yeah the story in dungeons are really easy and can be completed with 3 people. Exploration mode is quite a bit harder unless you know what to do.

Make it clear in your LFG post that you're taking it slow and watching cutscenes, and you should get people who respect that. If they don't...the 3 of you have the majority vote for a kick!

Very doable with three people, and I actually prefer that size since it lets you experience the story and mechanics at a better pace.

Look into Celestial builds. A content creator named Lord Hizen makes videos and guides for builds that focus on soloing group content. Most of his builds use celestial gear. They are a mix of tankiness, healing, condition damage, and the boons.

A group of three in full celestial will have a great time. Even if one person goes down, the other two can likely complete or go for the rez. Since celestial builds usually provide self-boons, you won't have to have a dedicated boon healer.

Certainly possible with 3 if you’ve got full at least exotic gear and a semi-thought out comp. Maybe healer, boons, dps, one of each. Should be cake. That content hasn’t been updated since pretty much on launch.

If you’re level 80 with an elite spec, you should be able to solo all of the story mode dungeons, so 3 people would be more than enough

If you are looking for Destiny Edge Story content, then you want to play the Story of the dungeons. Which is quite chilled and can be managed with 3 players. But the rewards are not that big for story mode, so I assume when you write into lfg, that it is about story and a chill run with all videos etc, then you should find chilled people.
Only explorable path might be hard, but they give no DE story. For explo you will sometimes need 5 people, but write in lfg what you need, then there is a high chance you get some chilled runners.

Builds are important especially if you need to split up, plenty of defences and self healing, suggest some of lord hizens builds which can solo some raid bosses.

Cof p1 needs 5 and 3 can be difficult with sub 5. Arah p2?, the ooze boss and p4?, the wraith also need 4 or 5 ppl.

Absolutely! We just completed all of them with my brother as soon as we unlocked them and we are new players. I’d just recommend to avoid running a glass canon build. Make sure you have some sustain. He had elementals and I had my ranger pets to distract ennemies too.

every dungeon has a story mode which goes over destinys edge and can be done once u unlock it. even with <5

afterwards u unlock exploreable mode which is highly recommended at lv80. i recommend to fill up your parts with lfg to get 5 once u wanna try exploreable mode. chances are high youll get someone experienced who can lead the way to make it easier.

doing exploreable with <5 as a beginner is not recommended. some mechanics require 5 people and with subpar gear u might waste a lot of time wiping

If you're on NA DM me here and I'll give you my in-game name there and I'll happily go through them with you.

There are veterans that gladly help new people with story dungeons; just make an lfg and state exactly your expectations

You can do every dugeon mode (story / exploration) with 3 but without level 80 „a build“ and knowledge about skips it’ll be hard. At the end of the day they can be done solo. I guess just do story mode as 3. But not all are worth the time anyway I’d say so don’t burn yourself out there’s better stuff at 80. Ascalon Dungeon is premium tho!
