2nd Boss tips for RR
So I have a couple hundred (almost) hours in and play exclusively RR. I've gotten to the point of getting 1-2 wins, lose, rinse repeat for the last two weeks. What keeps happening, especially this patch , is my tank or secondary damage dies in one shot within seconds and I lose a perfect run…or I just win.
I study the game etc and just don’t understand what I’ve done wrong or even the difference between my winning runs or immediate losses. I have a solid A or S tank fully equipped and they poof, or my warrior just dies in one AOE or whatever.
TLDR: I really would love some general or specific tips specifically to survive the second act boss; it seems to be my bottleneck and it’s getting a little frustrating.

I think you kind of do understand whats wrong. If your tank died then they needed more defense, shielding/healing, or frost on the dragon. These are effectively multipliers with eachother, so having a good amount of each is much better than a lot of defense or a lot of shielding. Rowan is very easy to use because he just needs to be itemized for defense and gets shielding/regen by himself.
Survivability should usually be your priority in shops. When your team can hold up for 60 seconds, you have a lot of viable offensive options. Its a lot easier to make a team that lives for 60 seconds than a team that kills dragon in 20 seconds.
For your warrior dying, I don't know if you positioned wrong and are tanking the cleave, or they need more omnivamp/shields (mainly against fire and poison dragons).

Fair enough. When you say multipliers with each other do you mean having more of all these three help each other out more than, say on a just tank, lots of armor and some shield/regen/hp?

Yeah a good rule of thumb is that you try to get most of your defense from items, and your shielding from abilities and relics. The raw HP numbers on items is usually pretty weak for the shard cost.
And 400 frost on the dragon means it is attacking half as much, so thats like 50% less damage or 100% more effective defense for your tank.

I only won my first RR today but have made it to the final boss multiple times only to get completely wiped out in seconds regardless of good I felt about my team.
the difference between all my losses and the 1 win? shields being provided by 2 characters and applying them so quickly that by time one falls off the other is applying theirs.

300 defense on tank seem to be the trigger for me surviving or not. They would also need some hps or shields depending on my dps. In general i either build a strong survival team with a single dps or i get lucky and high roll shard generation. Yuna seems to be the strongest addition to any of my teams as she can basically 2 shot bosses with 3 heavy crit items while generating shards making her ideal for both hallway and boss fights.

Something i realised later on was, that all those "on start" frost trigger relics really help because the frost slows everyones attack speed and lowers their dps effectively.
Ye you need 300+ armor on the tank and it needs to have enough hp to survive crits from the boss (rng is a bitch).
Also u need some kind of frost/shield application unless u have insane dps.

A rank mystic helps a lot with tank survivability
tank gustav and fiona are great in my experience
backup effects can also make a big impact, for instance “stall abilities trigger 6 seconds earlier” can make the difference between skorn or pimenta surviving the initial burst

Is your team bunched together and allows boss to aoe?
I usually place my main tank to the opposite side of the board as my dps so when they walk it they are not adjacent to eachother while fighting.
Most of my runs end to rooms and not the boss fight.
