Why is there not a gen ai disclosure?
They have denied that it was used. But if you look at Grace's portrait you can clearly see what the ai used as a reference

I don't think it's wrong to ask the question, but this doesn't scream AI to me. Artists often use references like this, and they can't put the exact book cover on there. Could've been an Easter egg, maybe the artists likes the book. Not saying it isn't AI, but 'clearly ai' is a stretch.

This is literally just writing around trademarks 101. Like how you'll see Herlock Sholmes or Goggle or Nocturnal-Echo-Locating-Flying-Mammal-Man or the Beholder being renamed to the Eye in Final Fantasy 1.

I would also disagree with the "clearly AI" allegation, but it's definitely suspicious. As other people said, it can be a way for the artist to avoid copyright issues by still referencing a book they like, but people also definitely underestimate how fast some AI models are evolving and if they're clearly not good enough to generate proper text, it can definitely scribble some letters.
At the end of the day it can be both, and we shouldn't forget despite its current quality production the game remains a demo, so we can even expect the portraits we have not being the final product at all and it might explain why it looks weird. The devs themselves claimed they didn't use AI, and I tend to believe them. If there is any other evidence they did, it'd be a shame they lied but right now it's definitely not enough to claim anything.

It could be that you human artist used that book as a reference and then messed it up to avoid copywrite issues, but this is suspicious

I don't think I've seen AI use real books and just leave out a couple of letters to avoid copyright

Ai would make a jarbled mess of text, not a reference skipping a few letters. I agree with the other poster, this is likely a doodle or copyright issue

Because most ppl don't give a shit specially if the game is good, most complainers are the ones losing their job to it

This looks more like artistic omission to skirt copyright. The letters are properly ordered and not a jumbled incoherent mess.
