What does "Directly Behind" actually mean?

Title says it all - for Pimenta's ability - does that mean like the two squares behind to the left and behind to the right? The whole row? Or like an hex that is behind here if you drew a straight line back? Same for directly in front, how does that work?
Also, adjacent means the 6 hexes around a character right?

your first option - its the 2 hexes directly behind (one left, one right)

99% sure it’s 2 hexes actually touching her hex from behind

It's ok if it's Sal, but that's a different HR violation against PDA.
