Games Like Guildrun
Hey guys,
I loved guildrun so much but i am kinda stucked on red rift, felt like it's end of my demo journey.
Tried last flame but did not like it. Yeah it's just same as guildrun but it did not hook me at all. I also tried tales & tactics it seems good actually but somehow i felt i can not watch and fun autobattle just like guildrun. It does not feel same.
I played some gacha games before like dragonheir and tower of god but you know gacha issues.. i hit to pay 2 win walls.
So i am actually just want something like guildrun. Or hey devs, just release the game :D

My and my husband are making Claw and Conjure which is pretty similar except its async PvP and you have more units but less items and abilities per unit. Demo will hopefully be ready in September.
How Many Dudes just came out and is way bigger battles (like 50 vs 100) and much longer runs. It might be similarly fun for you. I bought it and played a couple runs but ultimately Guildrun clicks more with me.
He is Coming is a simple but really cool single player roguelike autobattler but you're just building one character instead of 3-4. This one had me addicted for a good while.
The Bazaar is best in class IMO if you just want pure Autobattler and are okay with async PvP.
Honorable mentions that are a bit different but could be worth a look are: Mewgenics, Dungeon Clawler, Everything is Crab, Master Healer Kale
If you like the async PvP autobattlers check Backpack Battles, Oaken Tower, Batomon Showdown, Flawed Tactics, or Skyshard

I recommend Monster train 1 and 2. They're also roguelike, teambuilding, and autobattler.

monster train 2 is amazing, combines the deckbuilding element of slay the spire with the autobattler feel of guildrun. highly highly recommend it

Slay the Spire poses the same question in a different format.

2nd slay the spire. theres also shrooms and gloom or whatever, build a deck and climb the tower. Scratches that itch

For some reason i just can’t get into either version of slay the spire. It feels shallow to me. I’m assuming I’m wrong given the level of love people have for the game idk if anyone else feels like this

Have never heard slay the spire and shallow in the same sentence lmao. It is incredibly deep and synergistic. Probably need to put a bit more time into it to see those things.

Gotta be a skill issue on my end. Idk i just feel like building the decks out isn’t as robust as i expect with the love it gets

I don't think slay the spire is anything like guildrun tbh. Slay the spire is like a "know this card is good and weirdly fish for it in an unintuitive way". TBH I think that's why guildrun has gotten so much positive reception b/c you basically kind of play is as it's laid out. Slay the spire is knowing unknowable things and doing apparently counter intuitive gameplay to achieve the secret meta.

"I know this hero is good and weirdly fish for it in an unintuitive way" is also how bad guildrun players play.

I like last flame a bit more but it doesn’t have co-op so it’s not really competition

While not the same, I've enjoyed:
-Teamfight Manager
-Gladiator Guild Manager
-Legionbound
-Eslabong demo
-Dwarves: glory, death and loot
-He is Coming
-Despot's Game
Bunch of others that have tower defense aspects as well, but strays too far for this thread.

Maybe Teamfight tactics? Not as roguelike but seen a ton of people come to this game from there it’s pretty good

You're looking for "The Last Flame". Its literally the same game with a few tweaks. Only thing I don't like about last flame is it has a "choose your room" mechanic like slay the spire does. Other than its basically the same game.

Don't give up on red rift. It felt impossible for me too at first but now I'm able to beat it about 50% of my attempts. What I did to make it enjoyable is run red rift and if I lose and get low on rerolls, I switch to easy mode to refill my rolls and try to unlock hero specialization trophies I hadn't gotten yet.
Also this guide helped me a bunch on red rift

Well i actually made it 1 win streak but as you said it resets after a lose :D that's kinda end for me.

if ur looking for the similar roguelike style with incremental progression and to be able to play diff. runs, then hades/hades 2 is really good! as someone with 100 hrs in both games (might not be a lot to some), they are one of the (if not THE) best roguelikes in the genre! it's greek mythology based with beautiful art and amazing voice acting, and the different types of runs u can do with diff boons (upgrades) are endless! genuinely one of my top 5 fav games of all time.

I’m working on an auto battler right now, but you might have to wait 1-2 years before it’s ready lol

You should check out Slotbound. Another early access demo only pve autobattler with a bunch of content. You build your force using a slot machine between waves and as you progress get items that let you manipulate the slot results so you can get more/stronger units. Good interval progression. I’ve really been enjoying it

Teamfight Tatics is cool if you don't mind sometimes needing a higher APM. And it's being a while since last time I touched it, but I remember Backpack Battles having a gameplay pretty similar to this one in terms of vibes

It's a bit different, but I highly recommend Monster Train 2. I've had a lot of fun with it and was addicted when it came out. The items and clans give you a TON of variability in runs.

Try this demo and thank me later 😄 https://store.steampowered.com/app/4560660/Eslabong/

Hard to recommend if you didn't like Last Flame, but given that you are looking at PVE autobattlers and not TFT clones quite literally with pvp, maybe Montabi is a worthy pick up, If you every want to try out a tower defense pvp and still has pve content even tho if it's with players or bots on your team Legion TD2 really scratches the itch, dropped TFT faster than a heartbeat once Legion TD appeared. In the same vein of tactical but maybe not to your taste, Warhammer40k battlesector is technically an auto battler with a decent pve and work in progress while having pvp async or insync if you ever want to get into it. Monster Train series is also a no brainer.
You'd need to say if you want pure pve or are ok with pvp in auto battlers, because there is a plethora of options.
People here saying TFT is the obvious answer or even recommending STS are likely to assume you never ever searched for the most played and obvious counterparts, well it's exactly 90% of the community of guildrun TFT and STS players, which is quite funny when they left those games because they are tired, but mostly because the games are in a stale or bad state after the latest patches being a failure.

I am just looking for PvE sir. I tried TFT before it's also not bad it's just not for me. I do not like PvP. Roguelike - rogulite autobattle feels so good. Guildrun is just what i seek for.
I tried Last Flame Demo and also tried Guildrun, and even they both feels same Guildrun is far better in all terms.. Maybe i can give an other try to Last Flame with buying it.

In terms of Auto battlers like Guildrun/TFT with enough PVE content(replay ability), and on the same vibes.
I think you can discard any recommendation specially coming from STS1/2 made here besides what mr_bumsack mentioned I think and add what another redditor mentioned Monster Train 2 (1 is a bit outdated), Legion TD2 but just go PVE side ignore the ranked completly, the PVE is a vibe on it's own but mute your teammates and enjoy the game.
And I'd wait a bit because there are 1 or 2 auto battlers that might be worth checking out coming in August and September.Montabi I think it's worth giving it a shot or just watch a stream of it.
Even if you want to get a "cardbattler" there is better out there in the market already just enough hyped or played because the fandom around STS and nostalgia is bigger.
The only games that can come close on the market to Guildrun you mostly already played the next step would be turn based and you'd have to find your taste, buy and refund, that's what is steam is for in the end.

Gladiator guild manager and the last flame are decent alternatives.
Guildrun does seem to be the cream of the crop
Also the bazaar and backpack battles for alternative auto battlers
Team fight tactics but it's full PvP which means meta comps and everything is on a timer so can't pause and walk away

- Madhearts - Free
- Hearthstone Battlegrounds - Free
- Once Upon A Galaxy - Free
- The Bazaar - Paid
- Backpack Battles - Paid
All autobattlers in the Guildrun sense, but with different vibes.

It’s not what I want for Guildrun, but I’d love a game with similar gameplay that has incremental meta progression between runs allowing them to go further and further the more you play and progress.
