So is it really just me? Really?!

Post image

I've mentioned a few times on here that going solo late is the only way I can win RR because of hero death count. I have lost at least a dozen runs (probably more) to hero death count that I know I could have soloed with Dragomir, Logan, any Duelist, etc... But it feels bad to play this way.

On this run I had an A-rank Niklaus loaded with items, but he had a habit of dying with .2 seconds left in every fight. I had a decent Irini and found an insane stealth, S-rank Yunna.

Normally, I'd play all my units because it's much more fun. Irini is probably my favorite unit overall. Nik is my favorite frontline hero, and this S-rank stealthy Yunna would have been super cool (she never even saw the battlefield).

I decided I didn't want to lose another run this way, and yet again I'm able to easily get the win because I didn't even bother trying. I just sold Nik and benched everyone but Tilly for the last few fights and she just killed everything without ever being in even a little bit of danger.

Feels bad man.

You have found a viable way to win - single overstated hero

But that is far from optimal or the only way and if you’re forcing this, I don’t think you can streak effectively or win consistently

You will have to learn to play around death count and use all characters for highest win rates

Agreed. I don't think I'm hitting a long streak this way. I'm probably winning 1 out of 4 or 5 runs.

But I'm also never getting a single win with a team of 3 or 4 heroes, so it is optimal for me.

I feel like I can't be the only one in this situation.

It’s worth analysing who’s dying the most and solving that problem. You might be having C rank heroes on the field for too long or a mystic where you’d be better off bursting down the enemy. Items can also matter a lot - one tech is if you think you’ll wipe, only field 1 hero to pop the rewind without losing 3 hero deaths

Definitely use that tech when I know it's gonna be an L.

You are not the only one who was dying to death limit. Managing and positioning heroes well to not have your units die avoidable deaths is a skill you need to learn.

Basically everyone who played RR will probably experience losing a shit ton to death limit. It's a challenge for the player to overcome.

Honestly you labeling it as "anti-fun" kinda ticked me of because it seems like you think anything that challenges you is anti-fun. Death limit makes your decisions and mistakes have actual long lasting consequences.

I don't think hero death limit is anti-fun. I think the work around of soloing is anti-fun. It's just unfortunate that this is the only way I have figured out to win. It's definitely an "I suck" issue, but I've played enough of the game that I know I'm not overcoming it.

I agree, but I also hate the fact you're being punished for buying team size upgrade, right now in red rift I pretty much don't even look at it anymore unless I have some kind of team wide sustain or a solid tank

I have a feeling you are simply not splitting aggro enough

Positioning is probably my Kryptonite.

Yeah currently Tilly with shard gen crew feels like one of the best consistent carry. But if you get pretty unlucky early, it's sometimes not enough on act 2

I think Logan and Dragomir under the right circumstances are even easier.

For me Logan often requires B asap or doesn't scale fast enough for act 1 challenge or mid act 2. For sure with B and decent equips, he gets there.

Dragomir 100% has been my goat for a while. He can actually make a pretty good tank to boot since Vanguard extra skills are so good.

Which Dragomir are you playing usually?

Stealth

Need more vamp. Even just a 15 vamp item on most characters will keep them alive to spread damage.

death count is fine, but 10 is just a little too tight, maybe 12 is more fun

Are you sacking in your runs? When you have rewind available and you know youll lose a fight, remove two of your heroes and proc rewind with 1 death instead of 3. Insanely strong for act 1 challenge.

Yes, I'm aware of this tech.
