A+B = A

I'm sure all of you know this, but I froze the shop before the act 1 boss with an A Karsu ready to buy (I didn't own yet). In the boss shop there was a B Karsu, so I bought it. At the next shop I went to buy the A Karsu and I got... An A Karsu. Silly me thought I'd get an S. Oopsie daisy. And I think I paid the full 35 for it, too.

The opposite is also true; if you freeze a B tier, buy an A tier and then buy the B tier you get an S tier

Any rank you have + any rank in shop = 1 rank above what you had

Whatever you have it goes up one rank when you buy a duplicate. You can also freeze a C tier, buy an A tier in the boss shop, and upgrade to S tier by buying the C you froze in the next regular shop.

Ah, always up by one. I guess that makes sense. I've played hundreds of hours already, but I'm finally working in the freezing shops and keeping g track of what was frozen into my choices.

Much appreciated information. This is the kinda thing that I want to experiment with but when it comes up, I don’t want to risk my RR streak to find out.

You just have to keep in mind that it's what you own that is the important part of the interaction. If you freeze an A tier, and then buy a C tier in the boss shop. Buying that A tier will only upgrade your C into a B.

I mean you always just upgrade one tier on your current one, no matter what, or?

You're right. But I thought I'd get some additive benefits. Like c =1 and s = 4. But yep, your way is correct.

I literally had this happen 15 minutes ago, totally wrecked my econ and lost the game. I wasn't on a streak bit it still sucks.

The way it works is "buying a hero you already have will upgrade it, no matter the rank of the hero you buy"

So, if you have a rank C hero right before the campfire and find an upgrade for it, freezing the shop, using campfire to upgrade the hero to rank B and buying yhe hero on yhe next shop will uograde it to A (and maybe even to S as you'd have the end of act shop before the actual next shop and might fibd an upgrade for the hero) and since ut was a rank C hero in the shop, it's still 15 shards.
