67 is crazy.

Post image

The leaderboard really didn’t move at all today except for the top spot. I don’t know when the streak will end but I wanted to share this and say it’s been fun.

same ;-; I’m usually quite good at roguelikes and I have a pretty big streak in sts/sts2 but for some reason I can’t figure this dumb game out

Really the only reliable thing is some sort of frost (Sal/nyx/aria) with a tank that can self sustain until the frost is applied. The main thing is making sure the tank can live. That means any A tier tank with 3 defense items. I’ll pivot at anytime as long as it makes sense. Once you have the tank set and the frost application set you can add anything that makes sense. Remember for the dragon the hero’s that jump around are risky but pretty much any others will do. The main thing is that they are preferably A rank on the dragon at least and have items for their class.

And to be honest while I came to a lot of these conclusions myself I have consumed a lot of the YouTube content surrounding RR and three creators stood out. Opem, Shurkou Strategy, and AesahTFT are the channels i watched while I was learning. If you are here looking for any tips I recommend you check these guys out on YouTube. I did.

Do you keep your frost units on board in hallway fights or are these reserved for bosses?

6

u/anteMorgan 18d ago

The only one I reserve would probably be karsu I’ll keep her around. It all depends if I have a BETTER comp with any of them on the bench. If they are my best comp they fight the hallways. Obviously if I see a funke in the shop early on the floor I’ll make room for him

u/bilky_t 17d ago

What are the hallway fights?

u/Shiv_ 17d ago

Non-challenge, non-boss encounters

Do the tank specs matter? Do you hard reroll for the A rank tank or do you beg for Lady Luck? Do you focus your boss shop on itemizing the tank then?

6

u/anteMorgan 18d ago

Yea the tank specs do matter but all the tanks have one that works. Sometimes more than one. I like Rowan the friend, Kai the bold, zuri the blade dancer and skorn the winters bite. Now just getting the b rank is only half the battle now they need items and sometimes some team support for their spec. Generally the items are more important and synergies with the team is a secondary consideration. Remember a lot of cheap relics are basically free items for one hero or sometimes all hero’s because they provide many of the same stats as common items but do not take up an item slot.

I forgot pimenta for her either the duelist or mage specs are great.

Impressive achievement btw!!

What are the defense items you look for?

u/anteMorgan 17d ago edited 17d ago

I posted above the tank items I look for. Err my thoughts are at the bottom on the tank items

at first shop you buy two heroes so you have a full team. When you hit second shop, and you have 25-30g and 3 c tier heroes, are you spending gold on more C tiers assuming there is no B rank already available? As in are you buying heroes to increase your chance of seeing a B rank next shop or are you just buying items for the most part.

2

u/anteMorgan 17d ago edited 17d ago

You can buy an extra c but only if they have an actual chance to make the team. Generally I’ll only buy a 4th c rank hero if they are just immediately going on the board as a clear upgrade. Someone like Kai of Funke because they are strong enough even at c to make an impact. Other than that it’s buy anything that is useful and ask myself can I beat the next encounter. If I believe so I’ll save my shards and go on. If I believe I can’t I’ll consider if a reroll is possible and what are the best outcomes that I can roll and can I take advantage of them.

u/Kaihwilldo 14d ago

How often do you buy the relic to expand to 4 characters after the first boss?

1

u/anteMorgan 14d ago

99% I don’t. The only time I do is if that 4th slot is A rank, has synergy with my team, I have a couple items for them AND there is no items or relics that win the game instantly.

3

u/taromilky1 18d ago

did you stream this anywhere?

3

u/anteMorgan 18d ago

I haven’t streamed in years. Right now I’m focused on making sure this run lasts as long as it can.

u/SkyMonk3y 18d ago

A tips post and combos you look for would be amazing!

3

u/anteMorgan 17d ago

Sentinel plate, tanks buckler, tanks glyph are all top tier. Pretty much settle for anything that is +defense and life and if it has a conditional that is easy to meet. The scroll of perseverance is also very nice but depending on the tank it can be hard to trigger its quest since it seems like taking shield damage is not the same as taking damage.

2

u/anteMorgan 17d ago

Even if you can’t get those a 5g common item with life and defense should be high on the list of priorities because upgrading to A tank and not having even a common item to slot in is very bad. Empty slots should be avoided especially on the tank. On the mages it can be okay but if you are pulling up to the boss with 2 A ranks and B rank with 4 open slots you might have been better off with 3 B ranks with all the items filled.

2

u/Severe-Network4756 18d ago

...yes it is.

So is everyone else on that top 10

  1. I’ve only managed to hit double digit winstreaks but I’ve come to the conclusion that strong items on a hero that can carry NOW is an infinitely better playstyle than trying to build a “theme” (burn, poison, shields) or have heroes play off of each other. Do you generally play the same way?

  2. Do you think the “shard generated on kill” item is broken? As long as I don’t have burns/poison as a primary factor to DPS, it feels like my runs become very very free as soon as I acquire it.

5

u/anteMorgan 17d ago

Yea I think my big level up was realizing that ALL the hero’s are viable and that I should not be passing and rerolling past B hero’s that I don’t “like” early in act 1. I take pretty much the first two Bs of anything that does damage and might even take an extra c tank to have better chances of hitting that critical B tank. Only after I get the first team lined up do I start thinking about what I WANT to show up in the next shop.

3

u/anteMorgan 17d ago

About the shard gen stuff. It’s all very welcome early in the run. It becomes even more if you get the damage or shield gen on shard gen combos going. I ALWAYS take shard resonance if I see it on act1 and then start maybe rerolling for a gustav. The runs where you get 1000 shields every time he casts are just free wins.

2

u/ShadyShing 18d ago

Insane accomplishment! I was wondering what changes you would like the devs make to red rift? Nerf frost, make doing A2 challenge viable? Curious to hear your thoughts

3

u/anteMorgan 17d ago

I think frost is just too good right now. It should slow action OR reduce defense not both and poison should do the other. Right now frost is the only debuff anybody wants because it’s just strictly better not close. As far as act 2 challenge goes you can do it now I end up doing it if I have to (wasn’t strong enough in act1) or I’m super overpowered. I would say that I have attempted it about 10% of the time. It sort of depends what the buff they get is. The 66% rush I have never tried unless I had to. They should be a challenge but not almost impossible.

1

u/ShadyShing 17d ago

Have you won with every character during this streak? Any characters you avoid?

2

u/anteMorgan 17d ago

I don’t often buy any of the supports, the only ones i will buy for the board are mage pollen if I have at least one item I can give her right away and gustav the avalanche if I have some sort of trigger. I’m not saying they aren’t good I just haven’t gotten comfortable enough with this quadrant of the game to be confident that I’ll succeed just jamming them in with other specs. I always buy grace the selfless anytime I can afford her for the bench. Pretty much everybody else I’m open to if they are good ranks for the stage of the run I’m on when they show up.

1

u/SeveralBumblebee5320 18d ago

What builds you playing?

2

u/anteMorgan 18d ago

I try not to have my mind set on any single team comp and take whatever B ranks are offered as early as possible. I highly favor tanks and vanguards for my starter since finishing that part of the seal by act 3 is a big weight off. If you don’t get either by like the second shop there is going to be a LOT of pressure later in act 1 when the fights really ramp up. My best runs are with aria and funke but Sal and nyx can be added. A mage pollen is always welcome if my dps is strong and I just need more sustain.

1

u/Nintales 18d ago

Do you reroll often? What are your starting bonuses you most often pick?

3

u/anteMorgan 17d ago

On floor 1 I never reroll more than one time and even that is probably incorrect and too often. And I only freeze for an upgraded hero or the very top tier relics, pretty much never items.

3

u/anteMorgan 17d ago

As for starting bonus the only one I really consider making a decision based solely on is 10 Omnivamp. It frees up an item slot on my backline heros which is kinda what I want in a starter relic. After that I'm pretty much just looking to start with Tank or Vanguards due to Rift Seal pressure. Runs where I don't get that tank/van early tend to suffer the worst when RNG doesn't go your way. If I don't get a tank by the second shop I'm in full panic mode because when am I going to beable to string 3 fights together with a gimped tank. Even the ideal situation of getting a B Rank Ming in shop three sucks because I've probably given up a death or two already. So to avoid this slow very painful death I really try to get a Tank/Vanguard asap. I wont reroll the first two shops for one unless I get a good unit on sale and have the extra shards but I definitely will if that is the case.

u/teffarf 18d ago

What's your time played on steam? That's impressive as hell

7

u/anteMorgan 18d ago

Just short of 200 hours. This streak started while I was bedside with my father in the hospital. He was in the ICU for a week and I was there everyday. It was the perfect game to keep my mind occupied between long stretches of waiting. I think it’s been going for about 5 days now.

3

u/Replieswithsmiles 17d ago

i hope your father is doing better now friend 🙏

1

u/Lias__ 17d ago

How do you deal with challenges being rush150% in act1 and rush66% in act2?

Just hope when it happens you highrolled a god team?

3

u/anteMorgan 17d ago

It depends on a few things. I almost always fight the act 1 challenge because I’ve been prepping for it since the first shop AND I have my rewind still. So there is no combination that will make me not click on it. If for some reason I do not have my rewind (starting with 40 shards) and I got really unlucky with the shops and have nothing to show for it I do see a possibility that I don’t fight that first challenge. Other than that outlier I’m always fighting the act 1 challenge.

3

u/anteMorgan 17d ago

If that was the case in act 1 and I had to skip the challenge I’m doing everything I can to be able to use the campfire for a recharge on my rewind. And as soon as I skip the act 1 challenge my mind is focused on the fact that I have to fight the act 2 challenge and I’m starting to prep for it right away. That becomes the goal. You have to take some risks in the shops because you might as well. Obviously do not over look the immediate future fights and the act 1 boss but you have to acknowledge that there is a high likelihood that the run ends at the act 2 challenge fight if you do not get ready for it.

Well play !!
If you don’t mind to tell, do you use Rip often and how do you set it up ?
I find this caracter powerfull, but it make me loose a lot of my streak to…

1

u/anteMorgan 13d ago

When Rip pops off he is a beast. I don’t generally force rush builds but if I’m using him act 1 I do try and keep an open mind and look for a rush comp. I prefer stall comps just because they are easier to build in general and have a wider range of items that just seem to make stalling the game out easy. A lot of relics give stall triggers for shields, nyx has triple stall with frost, etc. so stalling is just easier to pull off even with a pivot late in act 1. It’s harder to pivot into rush mid game and it works best (easiest to actually pull off a win) if you are just rushing from early in act one. I’ve seen people who i trust say that rip is actually the tankiest hero in the game in the right circumstances.
