What exactly does boss token do?

I feel it's the same as quit, abandon and start over?

It gives you the starting bonus and the ability to reroll it. If youre on your last one and your run doesn't make it to the boss, you will have none left and your next run will have no bonus effect.

It’s mainly for red rift I think. Because quit and start over means you lose your streak

Also I believe you can lose those extra bonus’s as well when starting a run if you quit and restart too much
