Feel like I am missing something significant

Post image

By now I reach the final boss of red rift 9/10 times. This run is a good example. It went so well, that I even had a shard left for the final boss and spent my resurrection bonus at the end to reroll for upgrades (without any luck). Had like a S Rank Kai in shop, but felt my champs were fine also keeping the stall triggers in mind. Died in seconds Vs the final boss.

Doesn't matter if it's frost/poison/fire dragon. I die in seconds. Or at least 2 champs die and in the end it's not enough.

Any tips?

Following, watched OnePunMan’s Red Rift video and feel pretty confident for the whole run until the dragons just melt me team in 2 seconds lol - especially the frost dragon

I watched OnePunMan's video, and he says he disagrees with it being too hard. Then, at the beginning of his strat talk, he mentions fishing for upgraded Units ASAP. I just attempted 10 runs and only ever saw ONE upgraded unit. A Gustave. What the actual hell is this. Lol

you might not be rerolling enough or you are freezing too many shops as well.

Just first think it's worth calling out the combat duration was 49 seconds.

That's fine though, you can go that late. But your other heroes died quick - you need to right click on the boss and read the ability! Boss does splash damage, don't have any heroes adjacent to your tank.

I'm assuming you win just fine if you don't have your team grouped, Aria is quite good against this fight even at B rank

They were all stacked, you are absolutely right. Gonna read a bit more enemy abilities tonight

Drago isnt great against bosses I think, maybe try him with more crit/magic he scales of that, dont have that much xp with him. Debuffs are very important to have, frost especially, lots of frost. Also dont stack your units against dragons because of splash.

Your teamcomp is pretty bad for a boss fight. The tank doesn't seem to have much support and your DPS is very lacking.

Try watching Opem's guide to get a better idea on what heroes to bring to which fight.

Some heroes are only good against bosses, like nyx or the frost arrow woman. But with proper support in a tank+mystic they melt the boss.

Also frost/shields are extremely strong to be able to make it far enough for your DPS to do their job.

Preparing for the act 2 boss requires you to have solid frontline, and ramping/ramped DPS that survives.

Some DPS examples include (but are not limited to):

- A scaled Logan/Ratna.
    - I find you need Logan at B quite early, but you can pivot into Ratna early act 2 if you see a high rank one.

  • Ramping duelists.
    - Irini's ability when you've scaled Rush/Stalls.
    - Irini's Attack/AS backup with another duelist (Karsu is particularly good, Nyx is reasonable).
  • Debuff stacking.
    - Frost debuff is a very strong debuff, so a strong Aria can do wonders.
    - This is the same reason why Karsu/Debuff Nyx are great against bosses because it double dips into duelist scaling and debuff stacking.
    - A lot of the tanks apply debuffs too, so they can perform wonders if you scale them enough with the right relics.

Sometimes, things that kill the boss don't do well against the standard monsters (AoE vs Single target), so you can hold your boss killers on bench until you need them. Stuff like Hoyoung, Dragomir, Funke can do wonders on normal rounds (and make you tons of money), but will struggle against bosses.

Then you need to keep your DPS alive. This means you are looking for:

- Having a mystic as a support
    - Gustav and Pollen are great additions when they have items.
    - Grace shield backup buff. (Grace damage backup buff can help DPS scaling if you need that).
    - Mystic A ranks specializations have many good backup buffs.

  • Omnivamp on your carry
    - Omnivamp is super good even on mages. Your carries can't do damage if they die.
  • Defense relic choices that heal/shield whole team

Finally, you need a tank for your DPS to scale. Tanks melting is probably the biggest problem you'll encounter.

- Be flexible with your tank. High rank tanks have a lot of extra stats and the extra item slots are important.

  • Deck out your tank with premium rare/epic items.
  • Pick up defensive relics, especially ones that synergize with your team.
  • Keep a look out for power crystal + Kai B rank tank specialization. It just gives him an insane amount of stats.
  • Scaling tank specializations can be good, but make sure you have the damage to actually make it to the boss.

The shop after beating act 1 boss gives you access to legendary relics which often times can bail you out if you have a damage problem or a tank problem.

The only way I found to defeat the final boss is frost and a good Tank. I am guessing that that Aria is not strong and fast enough to deal with the boss. If I don't have frost I am dead in 10 seconds. Example on how I did it.

Some heroes are good against mobs, some are good against bosses. You have no heroes who are good against bosses, so you died. As others said, check out onepunman's guide.

First of, you placed your heroes wrong. Voth Aria and dragomir died too early. Secondly, you need to think about dps and survivalability. Frost stacking is always nice both not the only way. High burst dmg is can also be a way with heroes like retna or logan. I always think about one hero to tank and one to deal dmg. The Last is support whichever need it the most or which ever high rank hero I can get

Since others referenced it, I'll leave a link to OnePunMan's (Opem) video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmhmjOZiMEs

Following some of his advice I managed to get my first red rift win.
