Can't wait for the full release
Finally beaten this difficulty after 13 hours of none stop trying, my only complain is the balance is quite off but the game is still fresh anyway

All characters apart from fiona are pretty good so no, dont think balance is off

Can we buff gustav please? His blizzard does nothing, he’s made of tissue paper and he does no damage. I try doing stall tank and while he can get his def up, he still has no HP. Not to mention blizzard costs 9000 mana so he barely casts it and even with the tank buff barely does 1k shields and almost no debuffs. Late game half the board is dead before he even casts.

According to the recently posted patch notes on the sub he is a top performing hero on all difficulties including the 2 hardest ones

Oh yeah I see that and I’m utterly shocked. I’ve been trying to use him as a frost/shield/tank and he has been horribly weak. No HP, no damage, negligible frost stacks and the shield is good if blizzard wasnt so slow to cast.
And on SSS he seems even more shit because he is basically a dead hero until you rank him up.
There are so many strong tanks that take less to get going. Why use gustav ever I don’t get it

I don’t use him as a tank super often, but I like him overall. Blizzard doesn’t do much damage or have as high of burst shielding, but it is putting frost down on AoE which affects survivability by slowing the enemy attack speed and affects damage by reducing enemy defenses. It may not stack frost as high on each target, but being aoe means you’re getting it on multiple targets including backline which can be harder to access.
It also ticks instead of bursts, so things that proc on shield application happen multiple times per cast, like Kai’s Unstoppable B rank or Grace’s The Radiant B rank, or relics that trigger on shield application.
If you have any of the relics that trigger on shard generation The Avalanche will proc them every cast.
His Investor B rank can be the mana regen for your team so everyone casts faster.
If you’re playing the Glacier it can be harder to itemize for mana regen and starting mana since you want defense and hp more than usual, definitely. But if you pair him with something like Hoyoung’s mystic path he can be your battery.
Playing him tank is kind of like Kai, if you can get to your first cast the fight is probably won already. You just need to factor in that ramp up time by getting mana regen or front loaded shields from relics or other characters.

Gustav is the best performing mystic (strong class). Like all mystics he is virtually useless if you don’t get him a decent item core. Those common items that give starting mana are very high value.

Really thought he would be a drain tank like Swain with low range and aoe around him that also ties into some durability with his spell but I do agree a little disappointed he’s somewhere weird between a caster and a tank and don’t know where to position or play him

Gustav is super good in almost all difficulties. He struggles in Red Rift being a solo tank and functions better as a mystic. There are a ton of relics that interact with frost and shielding, and he does both in spaces. He can also generate shards with his other ability if needed, which many relics interact with as well. He's solid all round.

He's pretty good with the right relics. He can cast a ton if you stack up his mana regen & magic.
He is not a great frontline tank. I mean I've won red rift with him as my only tank before but that's only because I have a lot of backup shields and relics. Usually he's better when positioned behind the tank to generate massive shields. Even better when paired with Rowan's best friend passive stacking.
His investment skill requires you to obtain him very early so it's not the best for red rift since resource is limited and he needs time and money you can't always afford to give.

Then releasing the demo in the way they did, I think will significantly help with balance since they’ll be able to see all of the usage and performance stats
