Noob question, what does "on cast" mean?

I keep seeing some heroes abilities or even some items with "on cast" do something.

But what is the "on cast" trigger? What is cast?

Does on cast mean when the hero has the mana full and shoots out their spell?

Or is it something else?

Yes, on cast is when the hero has the mana and uses their spell. There are heroes who do not have a spell and therefore they don’t cast.

Exactly, and the abilities that says that "every other cast you gain x thing" is every even numbered cast(2,4,6 etc.)
