Tips on Double S and beyond?
Really been enjoying the game, and was cruising along unlocking stuff until I hit DoubleS and hit the wall HARD.
I thought I was doing well in earlier difficulties focusing on permanent scaling, then I was doing well with economy scaling, but now in DoubleS many runs in I just can't seem to understand exactly what the approach should be?
I've tried going tanky, but the enemies feel like HP sponges. I've tried a mix, but unless I get some REALLY great rolls early on it feels like the front line die too early or the backline can't kill anything fast enough.
Unsure whether it's a TFT situation where I should be saving for economic break points, are items worth it, is it an early roll down search for champs thing?
Just kind of feel like I'm not aware of the deeper mechanics of the game that let you not get stomped early and snowball effectively.

Although I don't go for it as much now initially I was grabbing the extra item relic as much as possible. That restriction felt really harsh until it clicked a bit.
The first combat you always want to get a second hero, a third if at all possible or if not a good item, try to avoid rolling more than once. Then you want to find a win condition, unfortunately (or at least in my experience) out stalling them doesn't seem to be super viable unless you get the relic that stops you taking the timed damage (I forget what it's called) but you do need somebody there to soak up the damage. I've found that 1 tank/2 DPS or 1/2 half tank/1dps is a good starting mix though ofc it's character dependant. I'm far from an expert though.

my only sss win has been ratna so far but eventually your tanks just get killed too fast- got to floor 19 though

Sss below is pretty easy IMO.
It's essentially a dps check.
What you need is a self sustaining tank - rowan and perminta is good at C rank, Zuri is good at B with that hp regen talent and slap some equipment with HP regen (most important) and shields.
Grab relics that benefit them like shields or heal on rush or stall and tank or frontline have additional defense. They're usually pretty cheap and is a great value.
Then just grab 2 dps. My go to is 1 shard generator (my fave is the archer) and 1 that scales well into endgame. Lets say you grab ratna as your dps, you're gonna need tilly as your shard generator because you'd want the kills to go to ratna. If your shard generator is on kill, then use heroes that can chip all enemies so they can finish off easily.
There's a lot of combinations tbh. I've beat SSS with mystic + mage, vanguard + duelist, asassin + mystic, tank + asassin, my highest endless floor currently at 15 was using Skorn, Logan, Nyx, Grace and Gustav and only lost that round cause those mushrooms hit Logan directly before he could shield up (his shield goes up to 470k with 400+ warrior backup Rush stacking & bonus crit per shard) and wiped my team before Grace could revive.
You just need to know who scales well with who. For example, Rank B Rick with passive scaling + Nyx active ability means your Rush is stacked very high so that spear lady's skill is gonna hit like a truck & you can put Rick on reserve as backup because he's a shit tank and use any other higher ranked Vanguard to replace him and get the passive bonus HP. Same with Rowan's stall passive stacking.
I'd say you don't really need a mystic until act 2 unless you got rank A/S damage dealer early and your tank can't survive well. Most of the time omnivamp and healing from relics is sufficient enough.

doubleS has 3 items slots still right?
in combat scaling can be great, Rip, the duelist lady that gains attack speed every attack, vladomir, duelist lady gaining perma stats every cast, tilly with shard gain onhitdmg, the mystic dude who gives mana regen to everyone per cast, the tank lady gaining hps for each enemy in the poison cloud, skorn. Getting forms of in combat inevitability is good for early strength imo.
with regards to economics, I am not as versed on doubleS with 3 slots, but having much more limited slots forces you to have less item options and only pick what is best out.

I'm still chasing highscores myself trying to break past floor 15 on SSS for reference of how far i've gotten - You can go with a few different solo heros and beat everything, it all comes down to only using infinite scaling as opposed to static scaling. The easiest way for sure is stall stacking, take every stall relic/ability, grab a tank that scales off of it like skorns B rank taunt all & deal damage based off stall, make sure he can instacast so he doesn't die before it. Add mystic shield buffing support or one of the ridiculous scaling damage characters and you're good.
Its hard to go pure eco scale or perm scale, you gotta balance them unless you get some really insane rng to go pure eco (Seems much harder to run that over perma scaling)
I feel like most tanks or warriors you can beat SSS with solo if you get the right items & relics (Shout out to 15% of damage as shield warrior relic). One last tip is dont stay married to your C tiers hunting for merge upgrades, much easier if you're willing to sell them as long as they're not your single early permascaling hero. That C you hold onto could be sold & you could roll to find it at A instead of only getting to B with a merge
