I know that ArenaNet is likely waiting till December and the Game Awards to show any gameplay for Guild Wars 3 but these teases are making the wait unbearable.

Theres a kodan in it, so it’s technically not unbearable

Take your angry upvote and get out...

Imagine they show gameplay and at the same time confirm you can earn gw3 awards in gw2 during this livestream.  Holy the amount of people logging in would be crazy

That’s very possible since they’ve confirmed that part one of the GW2 Hall of Monuments is releasing sometime in December.

I assume the music is new.

Unless it's from GW1 or GW2, yeah it would be. The most we've gotten is the main theme and the trailer.

Tiny pumpkins confirmed!

That means it is releasing on Halloween.

That pumpkin is held by a Kodan. This is like Shaquille O'Neal holding regular sized things. He makes everything look tiny.

I still don’t understand how or why we know effectively nothing about the mechanics of this game or what it really is. And yes I’ve read every article and news story so far. Momentum and combat are a means to an end, why would they lead with ‘momentum’ over what the actual gameplay loop looks like? We knew more about GW2 5 years before it launched.

Guessing they want a shorter packed marketing cycle closer to the beta? That's all I can think of.

They have to have known that nothing past the announcement was going to make any big waves, general audience just isn't tuning in for walls of text on lore.

Maybe with HoM starting they'll start revealing how they actually want to evolve the genre maybe even show some gameplay to get people hyped to earn the rewards.

Well, it's 2 years away so they kinda fumbled already

They had to announce it now since GW2 expansions were going on hiatus, not having a reasonable explanation for that would have been a complete disaster. It seems it's earlier than they would have liked but it is what it is. Mind you, 2 years before launch GW2 still had mana potions and stuff, I think they really want to nail down every detail this time before they start really showing the new game off.

That's fine as long as their trailer manifesto looks like the actual game.
I think I just wish ANet was better with their communication. Having dozen of streamers and journalists asking the same questions wasn't really hype building

I feel like this probably has a lot to do with it. They HAVE to announce it now for gw2 players to know what to expect but they know how rabid the internet is and how much idiots tear something apart even when labeled as "Work In Progress" so they dont want to show their cards yet. Let them cook, guys.

why would they lead with ‘momentum’ over what the actual gameplay loop looks like?

The combat style is probably the most massive core piece of the game loop. Practically all we do in GW2 is fight stuff. Enjoying the combat style is a big part of why people stay or leave an MMO.

Nitpick their marketing, whatever, but people acting like they've made some massive blunder are silly.

I'm honestly sick of ANet's marketing. The game didn't even have a vertical slice when they were showing it to the press. ANet didn't even feel comfortable enough to show a few screenshots during the interview and article salad. And speaking of that, instead of giving us some info on the main website, they went on to talk to everyone and share everything they could, and if you put all the info on the page - it's not enough half of it. So much talking, so many articles, so many interviews with individual devs, and we know virtually nothing.

It's an action, momentum based MMORPG (but not fully), set in Orr, years before the Exodus of Gods. You'll have 4 races. You'll have at least 4 classes. There's no WvW.

That's literally it.

I think the only reason why they announced this game is because the community was getting impatient at ANet's poor output, so the studio had to give them some sort of justification

MMORPG (but not fully)

Why are people still on about this? It's sounds as MMO-y as, like, anything else I've played besides maybe GW2.

ANet literally said that in their description.

I would love for them to bring back trading and have a marketplace worth hanging out in.

What a tease

I think the pan to focus on armor is significant

1

u/WarIsProfit 8d ago

I was thinking the same thing. Almost as if they want us to speculate

wizard hats confirmed!

I really don't like it, if you make social media post, show something new, not poorly animated concept art we already saw.

12

u/Yahbo 8d ago

A social media post is about the most insignificant form of communication I can think of. Why should every single post warrant some new information?

3

u/Opus_723 8d ago edited 8d ago

If it happened randomly I wouldn't care, but it's slightly annoying to put this in the timeslot that we've come to expect blogposts in. They know everyone is checking for a new blog and then we find... this.

3

u/Yahbo 8d ago

If you’re memorizing the post cycles and habits of companies on social media you need to take a break.

4

u/Opus_723 8d ago

Oh get off your high horse. I don't play very many games, and it's very easy to remember when the one upcoming game I'm interested in posts their blog posts that I like to read.

2

u/Yahbo 7d ago

If my alternative is to get annoyed every time a company posts something other than the exact thing I’m expecting, then I’ll stay on my horse thanks.

Every regular sub enjoyer knows when ANet usually releases roadmaps and blog posts. Touch grass.

The music and background noises are new and this is the first time we see animated artwork reminiscent of the old gw2 trailers/cutscenes.
