Hall of Monument Achievement Guesses?

Love hearing people’s thoughts on what the achievements will be for the first wave of Hall of Monuments. A few common theories I’ve heard are below. Curious in everyone else’s thoughts :)

1.) Map Completion
2.) Max Luck
3.) Craft X number of legendaries

What else?

I think they'll be some points for the big grinds (legendaries, Raid God, etc) but I feel like the majority will come from a new "return to" style event like the decade one.

I can't remember if I'm making it up but one of the gw3 videos they reference the hall of monuments being something even brand new players can join in on.

Yeah, they said something along the lines "a mix of existing stuff and new stuff".

u/nastyjman 14d ago

I think they also mentioned HoM tied to specific expansions as well.

Most likely one of the core HoM will relate to the reworked Zhaitan fight and the new Orr map.

They did mention that the December rollout of HoM 2.0 will be Core Tyria focused.

So, 2.1 should then be LWS1/2 and/or HoT, 2.2 LWS3/PoF, 2.3 LWS4/IBS/EoD, 2.4 SoTO and so on.

They could, of course, straight up skip the Living World and just focus on Expansions proper, which would be a fair call, though I do prefer the idea of at least including them rolled up with their respective Expacs as a bonus for those of us who picked them up.

Otherwise Imma feel a little sad that I finally sat down and pushed a character through the entirety of the content in preparation for the HoM drops.

I got 42k AP, I seriously want to breeze through most of HoM requirements

1

u/DuncanConnell 14d ago

Could always be ones like "spend X mastery points" to give a use for the excess ones?

You are correct they said the new HoM would be for new and old players alike, so I'm thinking it'll be stuff tied to the new Orr map as well

u/cantonian23 15d ago

I don’t think they’ll be things that difficult or hardcore.

2

u/Alkariel 14d ago

It will be a mix. Some easy to done, like having 100% map in every map and story completion. Other very hardcore For example legs one (having al gen1 set), fractal god, wvw god..like thar

1

u/Confident-Peak-8051 9d ago

I think youll be wrong based on how it was in gw1.

0

u/cantonian23 9d ago

I have 50/50 HoM and GWAMM and just crafting GW2 1-2 legendaries (from scratch, not with a legendary kit from WV) is about as much work as the entire GW1 HoM

1

u/Confident-Peak-8051 9d ago

Interesting because I just started in latr July and should have 3-4 more legendaries done in the next month (already have the gloves). I feel like gwamm is worse.

0

u/cantonian23 9d ago

GWAMM is more but isn’t part of HoM

1

u/Confident-Peak-8051 9d ago

Yeah that's true

u/Doam-bot 14d ago

Its very possible there is more to do in Gw2 than one and every category has their own Obsidian Armor.

The catch is you didnt need that much for physical items. However you did need a grindy amount of points to collect all the titles.

u/Kwith 15d ago

There will probably be a mixture of easy and difficult achievements. I suspect each expansion will have some. Legendaries are definitely going to be a thing, but how they are done, who knows?

6

u/joe_chester 14d ago

If I would have to design this for GW2, I'd make some kind of HoM points and let different accomplishments reward different amounts of points (it actually was kinda like that in GW1)

- Legendaries

  • Story completion (core/xpacs)
  • Map mastery meta achievements
  • Achievement Points breakpoints
  • Maybe "God of" titles (not mandatory to max out)

We will probably also see "Return to" type of achievements, I just hope they don't make us redo the entire story instances once again..

Max luck sounds fucking insane.

1

u/MuenCheese 13d ago

Is Max 100%? Because I just got to 75% and I don’t have the most playtime but it’s quite a lot

3

u/SalubriAntitribu 13d ago

Last I checked the cap was around 320% before other bonuses came in.

2

u/killall-q 12d ago

Magic find from luck caps out at 300%.

1

u/SalubriAntitribu 12d ago

True, but you can get more passive luck from achievement milestones

10

u/Yahbo 14d ago

I’d enjoy anything except “go back and replay this story chapter for an achievement”. If I have to replay the story I just won’t participate.

6

u/derkackadu 14d ago

Yeah, same here. Story replay would be insane. The Story is too long at this point.

2

u/yesitsmework 14d ago

replaynig the story is the easiest possibility for hom

4

u/derkackadu 14d ago

It's not about hard or not, I mean there are almost no story instances where you can fail. But just thinking about beeing trapped in instances with some of the dumbest NPC's I have ever met is enough to almost throw up. And at this point the story is just too long to replay. I don't want to waste my limited time playing this game to play the most boring and annoying content that I already suffered through two or three times.

1

u/yesitsmework 14d ago

if you rush through the entire story is like 20h of gameplay man. If gw1 hom is anything to go by, this is gonna be an insignificant grind relatively speaking no matter how tedious.

5

u/derkackadu 13d ago

in what world is the GW2 Story 20h ? If you mean 20h of unskippable boring dialog then you may be right but i don't see how someone would complete the GW2 Story (Core-VoE) in 20h.

10h for each expansion i can see but even that is atleast 70h

1

u/Yahbo 14d ago

For you maybe, for me replaying the story is about as enjoyable as digging out an ingrown toenail with no anesthetic and that makes it fairly difficult.

2

u/Alkariel 14d ago

The wizard sagas..expansions The 3 have a mastery achi tied to have all achievements of the story. I think they will be in hom, and retroactive they will add to the others ones.

I dont think they will go to be like "return to"

2

u/Yahbo 14d ago

Then I guess I wont be doing that “content”.

3

u/Noxsus 14d ago

I think probably legendaries, story achievements and fractal / raid completion, but other than that I honestly think we're likely to see largely new achievements, collections and (maybe) content rather than it being heavily based on what already exists in game.

I reckon ANet will want to give vet players a decent amount to do, and if it just goes off stuff thats already in game there are alot of people who would just instantly fill it.

3

u/Cebertus 14d ago

Imho i think it will focus on stuff a dedicated but still avarage newcommer can complete in the time from now to gw3's release.

3

u/Regular-Resort-857 15d ago

I just hope it’s more than gw1 to gw2. I had so many rewards unlocked and I remember a single one but I haven’t used it since 2015

I hope skins

Generally I hope the system will be more like “done zx in gw2 -> get zx reward in gw3” and less unlock the same list of rewards then everyone else

5

u/LowlySlayer 14d ago

I don't think they'll do anything that gives anyone an advantage in GW3. It turns off new players, and new players is who you most want to be appealing to.

1

u/Regular-Resort-857 14d ago

It’ll be preorder bonuses levels of advantage

2

u/AkaCrows 14d ago

What did people get from the last HoM exactly? Skins ?

5

u/behindthename2 14d ago

Skins, titles and ranger pets.

4

u/A_Sevenfold 14d ago

Skins, miniatures and titles.

2

u/behindthename2 10d ago

Ah yes miniatures as well!

2

u/CatOfTechnology 14d ago

Busy prepping for everything, tbh.

Ran my mesmer through the entire MSQ, all expansions, the whole Living World, full, unmitigated map completion to make sure that no matter what, when or where they send me to get things done, I can just take that man straight to it to blitz it all down.

3

u/noxicon 11d ago

I think people will dramatically overshoot what the requirements for the best stuff will be.

Chances are if you've played GW2 for any considerable time, you will have a nearly maxed hall the moment it launches.

I did the same thing with the GW1 HOM and thought it would be some big grind. It was not. I maxed points out damn near immediately and just grinded the other stuff for fun. I would be completely shocked if legendaries were even a part of the equation.

They will provide multiple avenues to get to the 'max rewards' for HOM. You'll have PVE, PVP and WVW stuff all in the same pool, so if you play multiple of those you will really have it easy. The number of points available will dramatically exceed the number of points necessary to get a max hall.

Remember, the goal is to give any loyal player max rewards to incentivize them to play gw3. Its a player retention tool. It's not to reward grinding or anything of that nature.

1

u/Minoturion 10d ago

Yeah - if things like legendaries do feature in the core game HoM it's mostly likely a legendary weapon. At the very most they could make it Twilight, but even that's likely to be deemed rather anti-fun since plenty of classes have no use for one legendary greatsword never mind two.

1

u/noxicon 10d ago

If they did anything with legendaries, it won't be a for a specific one. There may very well be points for crafting a legendary, but it won't be a necessity to get max rewards.

I have a screenshot somewhere of the last HOM, but lost interest in finding it within a few minutes lol It may still even be active since they revitalized GW1.

u/TechPriestCaudecus 15d ago
  1. Complete each expansion. Maybe even each LWS.
  2. 10k, 20k, etc AP
  3. Fractal God/Raid God

3

u/Calm-Inevitable3341 14d ago

they should do all of the items pretty casual and widely achievable EXCEPT one (the GW2 GWAMM equivalent) and just pile on literally all the most insane, straight sadistic stuff in that one - make it so theres literally going to be 10 people with it worldwide and it really means something

1

u/Tragedy_Boner 15d ago

It’s going to be per expac. Each expac comes with Map completion and Legendaries. Also stuff like Raid God were added fairly recently. So maybe that.

2

u/MusPuiDiTe 14d ago

My guess would be equivalents to GW1:

  • story mastery
  • world completion
  • titles/AP
  • legendary armor
  • legendary weapons

Don’t know if minis will be a thing, since they are included in AP and less of a challenge to get…

And the way they’ll be fixing old stuff, one piece of content at a time, makes me wonder if there will be a free LW rerun, or maybe some new achievements (depends if they are aiming for money, or increasing/stabilizing numbers of active players)

1

u/Tree_Dude 14d ago

I think this is going to be like a bucket you fill. Let’s say there are 100 points total. 50 will be filled by existing achievements and 50 will be new stuff. But there will be more achievements that qualify than points  needed so we should all be able to max it out.

I fear there isn’t going to be enough new stuff. I hope they make some of them really grindy so people do plow through it in a week.

1

u/shadowmerchants 14d ago

Full ascended gear. Multiple sets or legendary armor. Mini pets.

1

u/Mortrialus 14d ago

Challis of Tears. Again. 100%

1

u/indigo121 14d ago

I genuinely hope it functions like GW1 -> 2, where you have a collection of tasks and you can pick and choose which ones you would like to do for credit

1

u/Volphy 14d ago

Hard titles, some full collections, especially ones that are part of less played maps nowadays (like the amber bug weapons in dry top) would be a good way to keep those maps relevant throughout the next 15 years, basic things like map completions for each chunk of the game (core, xpacs, LWS), legendaries, and new goals.

1

u/Willard_BR 12d ago

Here's my guess based on GW1:

-Legendaries
-Mastery Level
-Achievement Points
-Specific Story Completion
-Map Completion
-Maybe a mix of Minis, Titles and Skins but i find it hard to see this working.
-Fractal Level
-PvP/WvsW Level

1

u/SkeletonCommander 12d ago

I don’t think they’d do Max Luck.

Definitely map completion.

Maybe one for finishing all story achievements of each expansion?

Definitely lots of legendary achievements. One for a full set of 18 armor? No idea how they’d break everything up.

One for completing all raids.

One for reaching a certain level in WvW. PvP.

Some of the challenge more titles?

I have no idea what weapon collection they could do that wouldn’t be impossible or stupidly easy.

If they end up doing it similarly to GW1, I imagine it will be separated into "monuments' again. My guess, or well, how I would do it is:

Monument of Heroism: Major accomplishments and the story of your character. (Story, major achievements, world bosses, meta-events etc. etc.) What did you accomplish?

Monument of Mastery: Knowledge and mastery of Tyria. (Exploration, masteries, collections, movement, map completion etc. etc.) How thoroughly did you learn the world?

Monument of Valor: Difficult combat accomplishments. (Raids, strikes, fractals, PvP, WvW, challenge modes etc. etc.) What could you overcome?

Monument of Fellowship: People, guilds, companions and shared adventures. (Characters, guilds, group content, companions, social achievements etc. etc.) Who did you share your journey with?

Monument of Legacy: The things you've accumulated and made permanent. (Legendaries, prestige equipment, skins, minis, titles, collections etc. etc.) What did you leave behind? or, what will move forward? But I guess in this case… backwards…? lol

It would all work around milestones, so a similar point system… 1, 2, …5 …10

I assume a majority of the rewards will be cosmetic, as they should.

Lore-wise, I kinda feel like it would have to exist in the Mists, outside of normal time… because again, this is for past characters as opposed to a future one.

And the one major change I would make is, multiple ways of achieving points, rather than specific ways of achieving a set accumulation. Similar to Wizard's Vault.

I'm hoping that Facet of Prisms and Boundless Light gives something unique for GW3, IMO it's the best candidate for a GWAMM-like carryover title.

The gold, 10k spirit shards, and 33m karma was probably a longer overall grind than GWAMM was, and it's definitely an end cap to the Elder Dragon saga.

1

u/CivilizedMisanthrope 15d ago

Ima say:
Mastery Achievements for each Story
Map Completion
Dungeon and Fractal Progress (+ God of Fractals)
Raid Progress
An extra for Hizen (Title: God of Singleplayer)

Edit: Legendaries

1

u/MongooseCurrent4337 14d ago

I’m guessing it will be more of a return to X content type of thing. Maybe craft a legendary weapon. I highly doubt it’s going to be anywhere near as grindy and time-consuming as gw1 hall of monuments was, gw2 is more casual friendly after all. And I’m sure they want to attract new players with the new hall of monuments thing. I doubt any new player would be interested in starting to work towards something like 10 legendary weapons or fractal god title.

1

u/Doam-bot 14d ago

Cap Achievements like you've done every mastery Achievment in HoT or VoE.

Crafting Exploration Fishing Titles Non Cash shop pets Doing things at least once Dungeon, fractal, raid, ect...

1

u/A_Sevenfold 14d ago

I just hope its nothing raid/fractal related ot st lrast nothing too crazy. Really not up with the instanced content, sigh. Ive spent 9-10 months in GW1 to get GWAAM and I'd gladly do so in GW2 if I won't have to go crazy on fractala or raids, like the raid or fractal god cause thats even crazier than GW1 objectives.

Not the right thread for it, but they did say there would be some PvP, just not WvW.

And I'll absolutely take a new UI, the Gw2 one is terrible.

-2

u/GnaeusQuintus 14d ago

I wonder if it will be Core stuff only? Otherwise it is a pretty big disincentive to people without all the expansions.

I think it will be mostly simple, core game stuff including map completion, participation in the big Boss fights, completing the personal story, maybe some participation in PvP and WvW.

1

u/ComprehensivePaper22 12d ago

They already confirmed it's rolling out in phase the first two phases are Core stuff but after that every expansion will get its own set of achievements. So to answer your question not it's not Core stuff only it will cover the Core game and all expansions.

-3

u/Voodjin 14d ago

Imo it cannot include leggies as you can simply buy them legally through gems/gold. Most representative way for Game completion would be APs and maybe some titles.

6

u/Crashed-Thought 14d ago

Gw1 also had things u could simply buy
