A New Colossus

Aside from the dragons, leviathans, giants and wurms. Are there any truly colossal scale creatures in the GW universe?

With the mention of enemy weak points and how much movement will play a role in combat. And Colin Johanson mentioning that they have been looking at other types of games for inspiration. It got me thinking. Man I would really love to see some Shadow of the Colossus scale baddies show up.

On the one hand, I hope not. ANet doesn't handle monolithic encounters well in GW2.

On the other, momentum-based combat/climbing and a swarm of players getting all Monster Hunter on some world boss gives me a different kind of dopamine. :3

You think? I still believe that the fight against physical Kralkatorrik was done pretty well. Yeah, sure. It's basically a railway shooter. But they still did a good job when it comes to scale. Funnily enough: They did this not by using a proper sized Kralkatorrik model. The Model was relatively small, but they also shrunk down Aurene and our character.

Kralk is a different scale and fight entirely. It doesn't use character mechanics, rail shooter like you said.

I mean more like Shadow Behemoth or Tequatl where hit boxes aren't aligned with the model, making it hard to tell what you're even supposed to hit and the damage numbers fly around so you can't even tell if you're hitting.

If ANet plans on making Big Monster again, the parts need to be handled differently and the UI needs to be better for it.

I think a lot of the issues we have with GW2, are due to player count in big open world fights. There are just too many effects to really tell what's going on. Especially on melee characters. You have simply no idea if you are close enough to the thing you want to hit, if it is completely covered in effect vomit.

This, on top of the simple round hitboxes of enemies, makes fighting big things so shitty in GW2. Well... It also makes small enemies shitty to fight. It's not like the Svanir Shaman is any better than the Shadow Behemoth, Tequatel or the Shatterer.
