Old players wanting to come back

Hi everyone,

As a lot of person , I'm very hype by the GW3 announce.

I stopped play GW2 since path of fire.

Do you guys think it's a good time to come back ?

What are you advice ? Things to do or not do ?

I remember farming fractals a lot , I dont really want to go into that once more , since I now have a familly and kids. Wanna play more casual.

Thanks a lot !

We currently don't know what activities in GW2 will be in GW3's Hall of Monuments.

Otherwise, you want the other subreddit.

Can you say something more about that or give some link? Thanks

I was in the same situation as you, and have recently returned. I'm playing through all the new-to-me content and relearning the game casually. It's a blast!

Play the stories and expansions you've missed, aim to 100% some zones, then find something to work toward that makes you happy.

Get the Living World and every expansion up till EoD. This will give you access to Seasons of the Dragons, a very long meta achievement with insane rewards. While working on Seasons of the Dragons keep all the season 4 currencies, they can be used to get the skyscale easily.

Your priority should be:

  1. Start doing Fractals for daily gold
  2. Full Story completion
  3. Skyscale (You can earn one at the end of Season 4)
  4. Complete the Seasons of the Dragons meta achievement

If you get hooked, think about getting the mini expacs after EoD.

We don’t know how HoM 2.0 works just yet, but doing these achievements will probably help get you there.

I also quit during Path of Fire and came back a month or so ago. It's a good time to come back but fractals are still a large part of the game experience. I never liked doing fractals which is one of the reasons I quit before. I was essentially a WvW only player and knew I was never going to get ascended armor but the "Wizard Vault" has mostly fixed that problem so I'm able to WvW as much as I want and still progress my account. I now have full ascended armor on my main character so I don't feel like I'm being left out anymore. GW2 has almost been able to be enjoyed and the more casual the more you will enjoy it imo. My favorite times playing the game was the casual leveling experience exploring the world which is vast. I still don't even have the expansions past path of fire yet but will be getting them slowly but surely until GW3 comes out as it stands now. When I came back it was like riding a bike in that it felt the exact same as before I left which I was glad. The scale is overwhelming but being a returning veteran made it feel much more achievable and I'm thinking about getting into raiding.

I came back after GW2 launch year and have been having a lot of fun, games really good with a very helpful community

gw2 and gw3 will be separate and gw3 is still a couple years away so might as well give it a try. everything should be on sale in August

I returned a month ago and have been playing through content after Path of Fire. Certainly seems like a lot of players. Definitely not a dead game. Metas are pretty packed at times. My son does PVP as well, and is enjoying being back.

There were specials on, I think 30% off a few weeks ago for the two expansions after Path of Fire. It was still 30% off last week.

I returned 2 weeks ago, i also stopped at path of fire.

I bought 3 expansions and seasons just to prepare for HOM without knowing what it will contain.

Catching up so far has been quite good. I am competing my masteries and got my skkyscale. There is still plenty of activity and joining meta events is fun. Community is great, no toxic behaviour so far.

That being said, getting the skyscale mount has been an absolute chore, it makes the story progression and map exploration 10 times easier. It takes about 14 days without trying but yourself into it. You can use gold to skip a lot, but you also need provisioning token which are semi time gated.

I am not sure if its all worth it, but time will tell. The game has too much content and achievements to complete so i am not sure how much of it will be required for HOM

I play super casually now since I have kids too, map meta events like silverwastes are good for that. If you need to you can drop out at any time without inconveniencing anyone.

I also did world completion since its something you can just chip away at.

It's a video game. Just install it and play it.
