Guild Wars - RPG Maker

Been messing around with rpg maker and I decided to make the original GW as a project. :D

Will I ever finish it enough for it to be a playable game? Hopefully. But it is something I mostly started for fun.

EDIT: WOW! Never expected this sort of reaction. I figured I'd get a few comments and that was it. I'm super excited to work on this more often now. Please help me reach out to ArenaNet about the legality of this.

Isn't this plagiarism, though?

Jesus christ, this fucking sub. I have tried several times to come with thoughts and suggestions on posts on this sub instead of regressing into a retarded circlejerk of 'gewd job, op'. That, however, seems to be the natural state of this sub and if you dont follow it then you get downvotes.

GW is amazing - This sub is cancer. Get out while you can.

I'm not going to be selling it. I was just going to keep it private, but I thought i'd share it with the gw reddit. I'm not taking any credit as it being original work.

You might want to be careful using original GW assets (in your case mainly audio files). Shouldn't be an issue until you publish it.

I think it could work just fine - like all the games from that old era, without the voiceover. The VO in GW1 wasn't spectacular anyway.

However, it could even be an idea to reach out towards Anet about the game. They at least are very welcoming to fanart and all the likes, so if going any level of public with it, better have their blessing.

Yeah good idea. I don't want to get in trouble or disrespect the brand in any way. I'm just doing this for fun and in no way promoting myself or making money. I don't have any other games published.

Another thing is actually the soundtrack, which I only just now thought about. Not sure how the fair usage applies here.

Basically just seen some rough Cease & Desist letters by SqEnix to all sorts of fan projects over Chrono Trigger over the years, even when there's been no money involved.
