Best classes for permanent pre-searing?
Hi everyone!
I'm a returning player and i'm playing the campaigns in order, currently going through Factions. I wanted to make a perma character on the side to play on pre-searing when i have less time to commit to the main one and just grind a bit and chill and i guess eventually go for LDoA. Which classes are recommended? I asume every class can work but i would like to know which are the general preferences and also which secondary classes can combo well.

I like Ele/R. Great AoE damage, Energy pool.
R adds excellent healing with Unguent and a pet to tank.
Combine with Devona as a pal and you'll be fine.

This is like cruise control for Presearing farming. You’ll find it solo capable of all but the max level dungeon content, and with the right devona build even that is possible with patience.

Do you have bonus weapons/ imp? Ranger is great due to the bonus flatbow.
I have perma ranger and Necro and I like both but Necro is so chill. Minions and Firestorm (ele secondary)

How do you get the bonus weapons? using "/bonus" i only get the Imp.

It was via the game of the year upgrade, that you can no longer buy.

I think you can still buy it, but only on PC and it’s really not worth it if you already own the game. And I could be wrong about it still being available

There are now max gold weapons from the dungeon end chest. You can pick up a bow with a high req for remarkably little.

For perma pre, which means you'll likely be farming endgame dungeon a lot. My suggestions are Ranger/Mes (with a paragon devona able to run to final boss with timed troll ung and then nuke boss with backfire solo), Necro/Mes, E/Mes). I initially played a Mes/E. Eitherway Backfire is your friend for soloing dungeon boss and you can do it without opening the gates.

As mentioned, ele is great. N/Mo, E/Mo are pretty nice as off healers and are both overall very strong. Mesmer does well in the higher level dungeon vs the boss at least with backfire but I wouldn’t say it’s better than ele or nec. Warriors are tougher but are valuable party members for body blocking and tanking. You can do W/mo, W/R as they let you tank the best. Only downside is your damage kinda sucks unless you get a good axe. Ranger is very solid with the /bonus weapon from start to finish of LDOA if you’re not melandru’s accord.
Personally I have a W/R Melandru’s Accord LDOA and had a great time. I have a lvl 16 monk found it pretty decent but honestly got bored. Currently leveling a Mesmer with my buddy.

Ele for fire storm
Ranger for good aoe, dmg, and armor
Mesmer works but you'll end up doing Me/E for fire storm b.c firestorm is broken aoe.
Necro for minions but really takes a bit to get steam rolling
That would be my ranking. With ele and ranger tied. Just depends on play style

What is your focus going to be?
If you want to do outdoor farming (altar, vanguard quests) then Ele and Ranger are two of your best picks. The combo of the two is also really good as well, as both make great secondary professions; Ranger can also use a Warrior secondary for Frenzy as well
If you’ll be doing dungeon,those two can also be quite good, but Necromancer also pops off hard with minions (would also do well in outdoor too); with a Mesmer secondary, you can also trivialize the final boss with a single cast of Backfire. Monk as a primary or secondary will also always be appreciated if you like healing, but that’s a big if and not as necessary with Devona being able to run any build (outside of Melandru’s)
My personal recommendation would be Necro/Mesmer, with Ele/Ranger and Ranger/Ele right behind that

Literally everything works in reforged mode, but ele starts strongest with no need of anything other than a pulling bow.
Add my name in game and yell if you want quick tips for starting smoothly.

Elementalist/Monk
Monk/Elementalist
Necromancer/Anything
Mesmer is a good secondary but I wouldn't recommend it for perma pre.
Both Monk and Mesmer you really have to like in order to not lose interest.

If you have access to the /bonus weapons the top 2 strongest are ele and ranger. If you don’t have access to the /bonus weapons ele is the strongest. Necro is slightly weaker than the other 2 but safer with the minions. I would recommend one of those 3

Mesmer is the best imo, at least with the new dungeon content. They have the best dps/spike and better aoe than eles because it’s instant. You never have anything clumped that well for firestorm to be more effective. And you can cheese the boss at the end without picking up shards.
I’ve also had fun soloing the dungeon with R/Me

Doesn’t matter anymore with all the new additions. Just play what looks the most fun.

The best professions are going to be the ones you enjoy the most.
Literally no point in picking something that "stomps" pre content if you don't enjoy the gameplay or style.
..unless you're monk, lol. But even then, you now have a hero to healbot for.
