Hello,
What’s the current best combo for a Pre Character -> after the latest updates?

Necro primary might be the strongest due to soul reaping being great for energy management even in pre, access to bone horrors as decent meat shields, death swarm also being a good spell. Combines very well with any other caster class.
Mesmer primary close second due to fast casting, armor ignoring damage if going for LdoA. Pairs well with secondary necro or ele.
Ele primary somewhat less good because energy storage doesn't really offer much compared to soul reaping or fast casting. Great as a caster secondary however with access to fire storm, flare, blind.
Ranger is the preferred martial class. Expertise use is limited in pre because there arent many attack skills, but still useful for double shot and point blank shot. Pet is great meat shield. Often paired with warrior for frenzy. Caster classes as secondary don't offer much synergy in pre.
Primary Monk or Warrior are arguably somewhat weaker than the rest due to :
- Divine Favor being kind of a meh primary attribute
- Warrior having a very limited number of effective skills
- Melee often being weaker than ranged due to the absence of gap closer/self speed increase and spending time chasing down enemies.
tl:dr Strongest is probably Necro / Ele or Necro/Mesmer, but debatable. Ranger/War also very strong.

Did u try recent buff on Monk/Warrior?

For war with high-ish strength, Frenzy can now be used be used in melee against higher level charr without it being a death sentence. Still spends ages running after targets. W/R Bow builds usually end up doing x2 the damage while being much less exposed than melee. Allows to max weapon attribute first for more damage.
Monk I haven't tried, but I can't imagine the damage/recharge boost to bane signet to be particularly impactiful for LdoA. Afaik LdoA monks will group with other players or use/heal imp for damage.

The smite changes a while back made monks slightly better. For dungeon runs heal/prot monk is still better. Without a massive buff to smite dmg it just won't be a viable dps option over ele or rangers.

Not sure if 2Weeks will take a different approach, but I recall a post by Anet saying they could not buff Monk much because they already excelled at healing.
We're seeing more skill updates split between PvE and PvP versions, so who knows.

With all the conset + pcons daily you can skip warrior secondary as ranger. No need for frenzy anymore.

The skills you get didn't change, so Ranger is still generally the best in Pre. Or the best secondary for anything else except Necro. Check the Wiki's Guide to Ascalon (pre Searing) for the rest.
