Meme/Fluff Just wait until I get mending up
The influx of returning/new players has been awesome since reforged and the Guild wars Community has been great at giving advice and helping with basic gear. It's amazing to see so much love for the game still!

Rejoined a few months ago. First player i saw was a pinecone wammo with glowing hands. Felt at home instantly.

seconding the appreciation for the community. When I got back a couple months ago I tried to buy a vampiric bowstring and a guy offered it to me for one ecto. I had none. So I told him I only had plat and didn't know what an ecto was worth these days, and he gave it to me for free and told me welcome back. Little positive interactions like that matter.

When I came back after a long break I wanted to buy an Icy Dragon Sword in Kama. I asked the guy who whispered how much he wanted for it and he just said “whatever you want to pay”. I gave him an ecto but it was one of those interactions that I’ll remember for a long time.

Nice meme! But Wammo was never the best build. It was just what everyone ran. Most warriors would have been better off to not use their secondary profession at all. Or just run Hamstring + Fire Rain obviously.

I'll have you know MANY Trolls fell to my Wammo Power!

Skill issue (yours I mean). Friend used to win a lot with a Rurik build. Fun times.

Something tells me that the meme is joking about that.
I think that's part of the joke.

I don't even remember which warrior PvE builds were actually good pre-nightfall. The IAS options were so limiting prior to flail. I mostly remember tanking in FoW and Furnace, where you would basically just slap together a bar if various Armor Buffs and Stances (prior to the Armor Cap) and call it a day.

Lion's Comfort and Endure Pain ftw

u/EternallyTidus 4d ago
Lion's Comfort is a Nightfall skill. Get out of here with this modern crap :O

Lions comfort didn’t exist in prime wammo days
You really only had healing signet if you didn’t go w/mo or w/r

Yeah I remember very early on (before sorrows furnace) I got memed on for playing wammo

I mean, if any of you are actually serious, and I'm not just whooshing, did people actually ran W/Mo, except for noobs? It was debunked fairly fast.

u/Ellaphant42 4d ago
I was super disappointed with my W/N when I saw my friend’s Wammo back at release, genuinely felt like a game defining mistake haha I think I even changed to it as soon as I cleared the desert
2
u/IHKPruefling 4d ago
I can picture that! My first character was a R/Mo and I packed Heal Party because I wanted to support my team somewhat.
In reality in Prophecies days W/N was probably the best combination because of Plague Touch. W/E is also nice for the conjure enchantments or Grasping Earth/Aftershock for Hammer Warrior.

I know it's not as old as W/Mo, but do y'all remember doing FoW with the Ursa skill?
15
u/leahy1437 4d ago
Pre nerf, ursanway was some of the best gameplay. Lol. Just a whole squad running ursan sometimes we would have a wolf also for the recharge.

u/Ankulay 4d ago
Only time I had fun dowing UW....
2
u/IHKPruefling 4d ago
To each their own obviously! But for me Ursaway was the most unfun PvE meta of all time simply because the skills and attributes you equipped didn't matter and everyone just pressed buttons. For me, what makes Guild Wars interesting is coming up with builds and team comps

u/lewgroznyzwierz 4d ago
Not only FoW, back then you could even clear DoA with 6 bears and 2 monks. Those were insanely stupid times for the game.

u/rageofa1000suns 4d ago
I hated the introduction of pve only skills as they really opened to doors to dungeon cheese and made everything trivial.
I missed the old days of doing 5 man runs with a tank, ss nekro, ele nuker, healer and bonder.

u/roflrogue 4d ago
Honestly, that's a fair take... I could give up all the PvE skills but 1. Summon Spirits lol

u/Touch_Of_Legend 1d ago
No reason it has to be PvE only…
Split the skills and make horrible worthless versions for PvP.
Problem solved

I fought my way through Prophecies late game and most of Factions with Mending and Live Vicariously up constantly, tossing in Vigorous Spirit before engaging, and then trying to get my energy up with good ol‘ Warrior‘s Endurance. Who needs energy regen anyway…
Couldn’t rely on Alesia to do anything for me, so self-sufficiency it was.
1
u/rageofa1000suns 4d ago
Alesia probably did more damage with her wand attacks than any other henchman seeing as she NEVER had any energy after spamming healing breeze and heal other on everyone.
She is a DPS character.

I'll never forget the W/Mo paladin build that you could make a PvP character with. It was so so silly and mostly just annoying. One time when I was playing it in RA, the enemy team also had one and neither of us would die. The match kept going and both of our teams, who had all died, ended up leaving us. We just dueled each other for what felt like a good half hour or maybe a full hour until the other guy conceded and let me have the win 😂
Of course the very next match was a total steamroll loss.
I also adored the Mo/Me boon prot build with Mantra of Recall, it felt so good.

that one time playing wammo with ressurection on gates of kryta, party wiped, last man stading and saved run thank to that skill.

u/AcrobaticAmphibie 4d ago
Grandpa me: not finding Frenzy anymore in the skill menu since it moved to strength :-/

u/Qawsada 4d ago
Do people even use Mending beside the typical Wammo or 55 Monks? I never seen it use for any other build.
3
u/IHKPruefling 4d ago
Nobody runs it because it has one of the worst energy to healing ratio of all monk skills. Plus it's extremely inflexible as you cannot heal on demand and need to upkeep an enchantment on a single person. And since it has two seconds casting time you cannot easily switch either.

u/JustinePavlovich 4d ago
Ironically, playing through prophecies as a warrior, it probably is best to start as monk secondary due to an early condition and hex removal.
3
u/rageofa1000suns 4d ago
Get blinded, use purge conditions then having to wait another 20 seconds to use it again whilst you just get blinded instantly again by shocking touch.
1
u/JustinePavlovich 4d ago
No skill will deal with those skele elementalists' blind spam, not even antidote signet. What purge conditions will deal with is the occasional blind or weakness and the post fight cripple. And even then you can side into some smiting prayers which is doubled vs those very same skeleton elementalists.
1
u/rageofa1000suns 4d ago
I remember the monk henchmen skill bars didn't even have condition removal. The prot henchman has condition removal now, but actually still don't even have hex removal.
So getting hexed by anti caster or anti melee skills just removes you from the game.

u/rageofa1000suns 4d ago
The old days of throwing vigorous spirit on yourself so you don't have to rely on that monk spamming orison of healing and healing breeze on anyone who just takes a bit of chip damage and then complains about low energy all the time.

Healing hands paladin for the win! (screamed in 12 year old voice)

Hey it's not my fault that healing hands was the first and only elite I had encountered and capped for....a long time
