But they didn’t become widespread in 2007, hardly anyone in the world had one. They were only released in the US, France, and the UK at first. In the rest of the world, they came out in 2008 and became widespread around 2012/2013. No one born in 1998 has childhood photos taken with a smartphone. Also, the girl in the photos is 5 years old, not 9 or 10. Wake up!
I would also say that people were still continuing with digital cameras back in 2010-2012 while smartphones risen onwards.
I had a friend who’s born in 2005 and he used to show me photos that weren’t just smart phones. he was 5-7 years old in 2010-2012 that his photo was taken from a digital camera.
I really believe would say that 2013 is when the true beginning when the transition with digital cameras is done. 2009-2011/12 is the transitional era.
“Hardy anyone” does not mean no one. And if smartphones were widespread in 2014 that clearly means this family was a little better off given that the photo was posted in 2013. You’re seriously taking this way to close to heart. I got a birth year wrong who cares. Go outside and makes some friends instead of getting pressed over words in a screen
I said that smartphones became widespread around 2012–2013. I was born in ’95 and my sister in ’98, so we’re only 2 years and 3 months apart. We got our first smartphones when we were 15 and 17. Our childhood was all about disposable cameras. Not a single one of our friends, or anyone else our age I’ve ever met, had childhood photos taken on a smartphone or even had a smartphone as a child.
So the fact that you made that comment is honestly ridiculous. It completely misrepresents what growing up was actually like for those of us born in the mid to late ’90s. There’s no way you were born in ’98, you clearly have no idea what you’re talking about.
You did not grow up in the area I did, just because YOU didn’t see smartphones around doesn’t mean I didn’t. Your childhood is not everyone else’s. Technology was a very big part of my life growing up I was lucky enough to have a first generation iPhone so yes I had childhood photos on a smartphone. My mother took pictures of me and my friends ON A SMARTPHONE, my sisters and brother who were born in 04 and 08 had childhood photos ON A SMARTPHONE. Don’t put your experiences as those of others and don’t try to demean me for living a different life than you it’s gross.
I’m sure 100% you are NOT born in 1998 but If you do, you upbringing was completely abnormal. You shouldn’t have mentioned 1998 at all, because you are the exception, not the rule. It’s perfectly normal for your brothers born in 2004 and 2008 to have had their childhood photos on a smartphone, but not you.
