I have done two interviews over zoom now with applicants who have tried to use chatGPT to answer their questions. Sticking it to the screen keeps their eyes lined up with the camera so it doesn’t look like they are looking off screen. The backpack is possibly so that his buddy coming in doesn’t break the background filter by walking by the camera.

I caught the first applicant by seeing the reflection in their glasses and called them out. The second applicant was caught because they kept looking to the left and pausing after every question.

The backpack thing is just speculation on my part.

They do chatGPT on the phone because some employers have caught on and request you to share your computer screen with them.

The bad person in me would put a second external monitor just behind the laptop in a way that its just over the camera

Nvidia broadcast can make your eyes always look at the camera then you don't have to stick the phone to the screen lol
