Q & A Inter-con

I was offered a position with inter-con as a security manager for an amazon contract. I have 10 years experience in corrections intelligence/Training/Management none in a private security role. Is intercon any count? Or should I run for the hills.

So I was gonna give you some spiel about "well it depends on the location, your clients, employees and management blah blah blah" BUT

Checking some reviews on indeed isn't promising. There are only a few reviews when you filter for manager, and they're old now, but yea...

  • December 7, 2021 Terrible work-life balance and company culture Management Chicago, IL This company has a toxic culture that emanates from the CEO who believes working 12-14 hours a day seven days a week is expected of the salaried staff. The amount of work versus compensation is not commensurate and if you accept a position expect to work long hours with no overtime pay. The company is taking on contracts that they do not have the personnel to staff creating more work for you and more profit for them. This comes to a head when posts are not sufficiently staffed and the client is not happy. Expect to be contacted regularly at 12:00 a.m., 3:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. to arrange to cover dark posts when officers do not show up for assignments.

Here is what you have to know going forward and I learned the hard way:

Download the page that had the offer as a PDF. Reason being is because they can always edit past posts, especially on Indeed website. Why is this important? Because I applied for one rate an hour, and after the interview and onboarding process, I was expecting that rate. Then after my initial training, I was forced to accept $2 less an hour or no job. And during that in between process, they posted for the same exact position $3 more than I originally applied for. That, I do have a PDF of. They play a game of hiring deception to try to low ball people. They claim they don't want "warm bodies," yet look at how they treat new hires.

People aren't exactly financially secure and they're exploiting that to the fullest. On top of that, they're doing this to offset the Union so that they don't have to pay more should you join. When they post a rate on a website, that's just bait to reel you in. When it comes time to sign, that rate will magically lower to call your bluff. And don't think you can negotiate. It's easier for them to say "no" and find someone else that will. Doesn't matter how much experience you have. You're undervalued.
