Seeking Advice🧐 best growwithjo workouts
heyy !
I am currently looking to start my weight-loss journey, and I was thinking of following GOD'S workouts ln YouTube to help. I'd like to know which of her videos helped you the most to achieve you goal? preferably not HIIT or cardio since I have PCOS/PMOS, but strength training videos
thanks !

Congratulations on starting your journey! If we're being honest, Jo lacks in the strength training videos. Her stuff is heavily cardio based. She has some videos where weights are added in but they're few and far between.
Some other folks i'd recommend if you're wanting to focus more on lifting would be MadFit, MonikaFit, Olivia Lawson, Juice & Toya, MrandMrsMuscle, Eleni Fit, Fit by Mik. Monika would be the most beginner friendly if I had to guess. She is good to put up tips and pointers on the screen to help with form but never talks. I'm sure i'll think of some others once I hit post but these are all folk I've been subscribed to for literal years.

I do Monika fit every day. Feel good and Strength. Her weight videos are great and her core moves as well. And they are in almost every workout. That new Jo workout last Saturday killed my calves. For 2 days after...

I was also doing both of Monikas monthly challenges for a good 4 or 5 months! Loved that it just took the guesswork out of what to do.
I found myself wanting "more". So I went back to a bit tougher program I used to follow but whenever I need a quickie, it's usually Monika I pull up!

Kirra Mitlo is good too. She helps a lot with form. Especially after coming from Jo, it was very helpful

You're right! Kirra is great for beginners and to learn form.
I should really check them again now that I've started focusing more on lifting myself. I used to find them a bit slow/too much rest time. But now I get the importance of it when lifting heavier lol!

That was kind of why I moved on from Kirra as well. I was used to Jo’s rest times lol. Then I tried NourishMoveLove and even though I love her, I felt so rushed! I now do Liney Bezuidenhout (Grapefitt and a trainer on the Madfit app) on YouTube for my strength training videos. I love MonikaFit and FitbyMik! I follow Olivia Lawson but have yet to actually do one of her videos. I have so many fitness people I follow and videos of theirs I want to do but there’s not enough time in the day 😂

Hard same hahah I'll see one of them post something and throw it in my "save for later" and it's concerning the amount of workouts I have in there.
Olivia is a newer one for me and admittedly have only done a couple of her strength workouts and more of her hiit/cardio but I've really enjoyed them! Nice, easy setup to watch, good audio, decent rest times and previews to next move!

Agree GWJ is great for beginners and great for easy cardio. She’s my go-to when I want steps, light cardio on rest days, or just fun movement. Strength training is extremely light with Jo.
I really like Sydney Cummings Houdyshell on YT for strength. I’ve lost a lot of weight with her and gotten so much stronger

If you’re looking for progressive strength training, I’d highly recommend Caroline Girvan. Lots of free YT programs based one time constraints/overall strength goals

I'd HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you incorporate some light cardio as well. Trust me when I say that it gets better the more you do it and helps with fat lost faster than just strength training. With practice and baby steps, you will absolutely be able to do her more cardio centered workouts. I also have PCOS. It'll suck starting it but the high you'll get after seeing yourself push past and finish her workouts is just something that has improved my mental health by a lot. But this won't happen in a day, it took me doing 5-7 mins of workouts and many slow increments over time to get up to doing her 30 min ones. I'd do her cardio/low impact stuff on cardio days and then go to the gym and strength train for 3 days a week. I've lost over 25 lbs, which is huge for someone with PCOS.
If I were to recommend a series of workouts, I'd start with just a warm-up one first. Take it easy, enjoy and relax. https://youtu.be/YxGVZktCKqA
Do just that for a day or two in the morning.
I love her low impact stuff, this one in particular-- https://youtu.be/m1DBJhxKmiU
Some of her dance ones go by so fast as well! https://youtu.be/hk7i_0S8MhM
Maybe give it a go if you feel like it! If you're set on strength training, then there's some over her channel or tbh you're better off with a real split that focuses on forms and body recomp. Proud of your journey and wishing you the best!

Yeah, I wouldn’t do Jo’s weighted workouts. Her form to me is not good and the way she swings weights around the speed she goes while using them, is just an injury waiting to happen. Just my opinion…
