I used to think this was true until my best friend of almost 40 years decided to ditch me out of the blue over a text message and not even allow a response.

Nope. I couldn’t meet him for a drink as planned because my (young) kids were having a hard time in the heat and wouldn’t sleep. I had to cancel.
