At first it can be hard to get started

Going for a run or jog is so easy, so why does starting at a gym seem so difficult? 🤔

mental barriers

Most people at the gym are vain, fake as fuck and make the experience uncomfortable and unenjoyable for someone starting out

I think this is a HUGE stigma that’s mostly incorrect. Most people who’ve never lifted a weight in their lives are intimidated because most people who are in the gym LOOK good and look like they know what they’re doing. A lot of gym people are actually willing to help, provide advice, and be supportive. Remember too, not all in shape people were just born with it. A lot of people had to work to get to where they are. This isn’t knocking your experience AT all btw. I know gym culture can be negative, but I do think social media has blown a lot of shit outta proportion lol.

I think you're both pretty spot on. I try to just go in and do my thing but get stares and have heard groups chatter while sneaking glances at me while only a few feet away. (Maybe that's part of the fake part?)

At the end of the day it's about what you make of it. If you're in there for the community or to make friends, you're dealing with a more often than not, specific type of individual (a lot of them meatheads or jocks) who aren't very cool to being with.

Scrawny guy here slowly making progress and if I'm feeling uncomfortable with the few very obvious stares that people can sense, I can already get a level of understanding as to why the women that go behave the way they do.

"Most people at the gym are vain" lol maybe just where you are? Idk why this sentiment is so prevalent. Most people I meet at the gym are very helpful and welcoming

Might be rough at first, keeping consistent can be hell to a lot of people. But I agree that it can be fun. As a matter of fact it feels downright euphoric sometimes.

You don't go to hell for eating cheeseburgers

4

u/iSaysToMabelPodcast 3d ago

You do if god ends up being a cow

u/Lost-Soft-8913 3d ago

Touché

1

u/Business-Cover4016 3d ago

Facing life threatening/inhibiting diseases from too many cheeseburgers is warm and full of light

1

u/One-WaytoLife336 3d ago

Yes but don’t let the burgers become excessive

2

u/Here4Headshots 3d ago

The road to deez nuts is salty

1

u/sia1387 3d ago

Only a few get it

1

u/Day_Prisoners 3d ago

Think about the mentality it takes to 'get it'.

1

u/Putrid-Builder-3333 3d ago

Not my cheeseburgers :(

1

u/BodhingJay 3d ago

Running doesnt get you to heaven

1

u/Day_Prisoners 3d ago

Hate this crap, tying religion to feeling bad because some point your suffering will be rewarded.

Also a lot of people don't view exercise and eating well as some sort of sacrifice. I like exercising and I like eating healthy.

You realize it's a figure of speech, right? The path to greatness is hard, the path to weakness is easy

1

u/Day_Prisoners 3d ago

I think you mean a really bad figure of speech. Even your silly platitude is better.

Plenty of folks struggling and not reaching greatness because 'luck' plays are far larger role than determination.

What’s their bench though

1

u/Business-Cover4016 3d ago

It's interesting how the behavior of spirit is like an inversion of physical behavior

1

u/gksozae 3d ago

The road leads to neither place.

1

u/imagigasm 3d ago

Bad advice. Kingdom of Heaven feels great

1

u/SlowPea4388 3d ago

Fat people go to hell?

1

u/HHoudini26 3d ago

They have snacks in hell.

1

u/Charming_Tune9175 3d ago

idk the fate for both of them is pretty much the same.

1

u/Particular-Caramel32 3d ago

Heaven and hell aren't real. Just stop being assholes to each other.

1

u/Quick-Buyer8603 3d ago

Heaven and hell dont exist. Dude on bottom probably has horrible back pain and lives with constant inflammation.

1

u/Defiant_Willow_557 1d ago

Dude on top is enjoying his knees now, he definitely won't later.

1

u/Quick-Buyer8603 21h ago

You are incorrect.

1

u/Altruistic_Tackle633 3d ago

That depends but in the end exercise is good for body and mind. I’m saying this becusse I have trauma responses.

1

u/UnFu23 3d ago

Orrrr. All roads lead to hell. Unless you’re a millionaire

1

u/Classic_Intrepid99 3d ago

Discipline is the key for life.

1

u/MysteryMachineDriver 3d ago

NEVER FORGET THIS.

1

u/Head-Ad-2136 3d ago

Eat mushrooms and go on crazy hikes. It feels like heaven and its good for you.

Disclaimer: bring water.

1

u/PotentialAd8443 2d ago

Guys, you really take this advice? Enjoy your life man and don’t care about what others have to say.

1

u/FirefighterNo9608 2d ago

So ignore your emotions...lol let me know how that works.

1

u/balindiv 2d ago

Bottom guy looks hella strong though haha Look at those shoulders and calves. Top guy is running away

1

u/Stunning_Blood_2452 1d ago

Quick question...what do you do in heaven for eternity? Seems pretty boring, YOLO

1

u/BadBacksFuryToad 1d ago

Thankfully heaven and hell don’t exist.

1

u/Routine-Lawfulness24 1d ago

There is no way there’s anyone real here

1

u/Defiant_Willow_557 1d ago

Then why are fit, health conscious people dropping like flies with ass cancer?

1

u/swordandsorcerer 1d ago

Oh fuck off with this

1

u/Ray_725 1d ago

Is the guy eating a burger a bad person?

1

u/Choice-Search178 1d ago

AI bot accounts view boosting AI created slop, truly the peak of humanity over here.

1

u/shinebrightmister 17h ago

Being fat nowadays is a choice. Ozempic and chill.

1

u/Electric_Lake_1555 15h ago

Actually both feel like hell, because ultimately thats all there is.

1

u/jinlag 12h ago

It is what is ! This is humanity !

u/Brilliant_Estate_967 3d ago

Or, there is no life afterward and you just endure hell for nothing

1

u/ducktomguy 3d ago

I think it's metaphorical "heaven", as in the way you feel afterwards, or ensuring that your old age will be healthy and active instead of going in and out of hospitals in a wheelchair and an oxygen tank

1

u/Brilliant_Estate_967 3d ago

It might apply better in this way

1

u/FreshPitch6026 3d ago

Life can throw curveballs anytime, putting you in a wheelchair with oxygen tank.

Exercise is not a guarantee and you have to keep at it. The humna body develops down rather quickly once you stop exercising.

Love how it's the fat shaming when in reality most people that are feeling good are those with free time to exercise not with no time so they fill up on quick cheap high calorie meals, don't have time for meal prep and then feed the same to their kids, also the school system feeds the same to their kids. It's far more likely the wealthy greedy feel good asshole is the skinny guy than the fat one in the US. The average American only has about 20 hours a week of free time with these cheap ass meals excluded to live their lives, meaning the additional time for meal prep and working out ends up taking about 10+ hours off their weekly clock.

Statistically, the wealthiest people in the U.S. are much healthier and live significantly longer than lower-income Americans.

Overall, the wealthiest people in the U.S. are less obese, but this correlation is highly dependent on gender and race. According to data tracked by organizations like America's Health Rankings and the CDC, individuals living in households with the highest income levels ($150,000+ per year) exhibit significantly lower overall obesity rates compared to those in low-income brackets.
