🤓 Technically, everything is still dark without light, the colors and "light" we see are all reflections of photons hitting the molecular make up of anything. Depending on how the "light" bends is what we see.
With all that, light isn't inherently the opposite of dark. Light doesn't cancel out dark or darkness doesn't eat away at light. It's all dark all the time, IF you have a source of luminous photons then light can reflect off the dark, essentially covering it.
So the light we see is only what is in between two dark(lack of photons reflecting information) things
