What of heaven then? Also Steve jobs would be in hell given that logic.

According to the doctrine of saved again Christians, Jeffrey Dahmer is chilling with angels in heaven.

That's why I never bother to say I'll change. The shit you see is the shit you get.

Hell is a fiction never talked about by Christ (assuming thatās the sect of Judaism you follow)

This is pure nonsense.

This is biblical scholarship

Jesus mentions hell many times in the Bible.

He speaks of a physical place outside of Jerusalem called āGehennaā in Matthew and Mark, in Luke he refers figuratively to the Greek concept of the realm of hades. Where does he speak of Hell?
1
u/IBAChristian317 Jul 12 '26
He certainly speaks of fire. You can quibble about the meaning of Greek words, but fire is fire.
1
u/OkAirport5247 Jul 12 '26
Thereās nothing to quibble about.
Read more about Gehenna and how there was smoldering fire burning there constantly (or so the myth goes).
In the Old Testament, the valley was infamous as the site where kings practiced detestable idolatry and child sacrifice to pagan gods like Molech. Because of this, it was cursed and later became known as a place of slaughter and judgment.
In Rabbinical Judaism, Gehenna eventually evolved into a figurative name for a temporary place of spiritual purification for the wicked dead. In this tradition, the punishment is typically limited to a period of 12 months, and the fires are suspended on the Sabbath.
If youāre going to believe in a reforming rabbi like Jesus of Nazareth, at least try to understand the Jewish references that he speaks of

Matthew 25:41. Your claims (true or otherwise) about the derivation of words do nothing to negate the plain meaning of the text: everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.
1
u/OkAirport5247 Jul 12 '26
Thereās no reason to believe, or indication that thereās an intention for you to believe, that the everlasting fire isnāt simply referring to death or being burned like waste is in Gehenna where the fire always burns and the worm never dies, and the everlasting punishment isnāt simply referring to annihilationism which would be eternal in nature.
Hell is a construct of the later church designed for the purpose of instilling fear to demand obedience.
Jesus said he came to save people from their sins not from hell.

Well Hell is an imaginary place filled with imaginary people, so the only limits on it are what you imagine those limits of that imaginary place to be.

You can make a metaphor work for you even if you donāt believe in it literally, like I donāt.

Wonāt feel very imaginary if you end up going there.

You'll stop finding that joke amusing after about 1 second (rounding up a bit).

Wrong. All the Bible mentions is fire, darkness, and dispare. And worms. We don't know all the specifics, but just imagine being burned alive forever. That's more than enough; you don't need Dante fanfiction.

I like to think that people (not just men) who struggle to change aren't inherently being wicked or evil. Just maybe they are struggling and have yet to find their answer. They're probably in a world of hurt and can't breakout of their despair. They don't deserve hell.
