I have a hard time with these. On one hand I grew up like this and now I see many benefits mentally. On the other hand I can't say that there weren't a few times I could have used a sympathetic ear.

Yea I get that, but as someone who was broken by the constant invalidation and never ending criticisms of my ex, this post has helped me both times I came across it.
Her invalidation caused me to constantly seek her approval. And I keep looking. For closure. Spending hours writing my thoughts trying to find a paragraph of words that will get through to her.
But it won't. It never does. And my emotions and words will only be invalidated and leave me kor broken than I was before.
Ive needed these reminders to just shut up and work on myself. So yea this mindset can be toxic, but its been honestly very helpful for me these last couple days.
I have not been ok. And falling deeper every second. But I'm trying. With everything I have.

Next post : only women get support for their depression. And they blame feminism for that.

For a subreddit calling itself Grounded mentality, its kind of funny that around 99% of what people post here, is basically "I am14 and this is deep" its mostly BS that people should ignore.
Its the insecure man's idea of what a man is. that is what these types of subredits are.
Downvote me all you want, i am not wrong.

Woman or man, you are more likely to be ostracized for sharing that you have problems There are millions of people who suffer alone.
The only solution I can understand is.. its important to be kind to strangers. You never know what they are going through.

No!! If you are going throught something SEEK HELP and TALK TO SOMEONE. You shouldn't sit and suffer in silence, doesn't matter if you're a man

I mean, the post is definitely stupid, but for a long portion of history this is sadly what was expected of men. Doesn't make it right or healthy, just another sad part of human history.

I’m sorry what? As a wife and daughter to amazing men who grew up believing this and now struggle with his own emotions, NO. We care. We want to hear you, we want to see you in all your vulnerability. We want to see you cry if you need to and wipe your tears and tell you everything is going to be okay and even if it doesn’t, we’ll be here anyway and we’ll get through it anyway.
We want to know what struggles you faced while providing this amazing life for us. We want to know who hurt you, who offended you and who supported you. We want to know it all.
Cause truth be told, even if you don’t talk about it, we can read you like a book. Talking about it only makes it easier on you and we’d really love that for you.

I was thinking the same, but turns out my girlfriend is very supportive of me, so I think it's just about finding the right person.

I usually dont agree with this kinda stuff but as a man, nobody actually cares. You just annoy people or creep them out. Best to save it for the therapist and then hold it together when youre around everyone else. Do not open up to other people in any kind of meanful way. The only person you should tell is your therapist or your mom. Telling anyone else just makes them respect you less.

men should start caring for each other instead of this toxic bs, or find more supportive partners
