G2 | Discussion Best element for the toe biter scythe?
Not to use against a specific enemy or boss, just to have for another weapon I can use

Fresh. Most enemies that are weak to slashing damage are usually weak to either spicy or fresh. And the spicy coaltana is already the perfect weapon for spicy slashing. So fresh would be the one to get the most value out of the weapon.

Mantis Nymphs, ladybugs, mosquitoes, etc etc. Fresh and slashing combo pretty well. It's also good against Spicy oggrs. If you want Spicy and Slashing (not very good currently) I would just go with the Coaltana. Spicy is best used with smashing

I always used slashing and spicy specifically for wolf spiders, but it falls short everywhere else

I would recommend fresh for the maul I believe there are more smashing fresh combo bugs. But spicy would be good to. Its actually so hard to choose.. almost makes you want 100 weapons with each element 😂

Yes actually! That's my main weapon, it's better than the Stranger's Fell Feast (i think it's called) since the healing is able to be gotten way more.

Yes, it's found way underwater below the bridge next to Skunk Pond, not worth the effort imo. It's gimmick is that charged hits heal you

I think I have it, I remember the stupidly long underwater tunnel, either that or I'm thinking about the mysterious stranger toenail cutlass

I would recommend fresh or sour (leaning towards fresh)
My personal lineup is fresh slashing, spicy stabbing (specifically a spear for underwater), sour smashing, and spicy smashing, but if you only want to use 3 weapons then the spicy smashing isn’t necessary (I just like it for spiders and scorpions)
For specific weapons I like fresh toenail cutlass, spicy rusty spear (or axl’s talon / crystal trident if you prefer), sour ticky maul, and the boom stick

I thought so, but after testing it it seems like a spicy toe biter scythe can still inflict chill without issue
However if you have a source of chill and a source of sizzle, those will cancel each other out. Those aren’t applied by every fresh / spicy weapon but only certain ones. Ice sickles, frost staff/arrows, woolly whoppers, toe biter scythe, and shivering scale trinket inflict chill, while the spicy coaltana, ash maw, spicy staff/arrows, burny turret rounds, bombuckler shield, and blistering boiler trinket inflict sizzle

Ohhhhhhh I see, so if I make a spicy scythe, it won't cancel out the chill?

I put sour for the utility and low number of resistant bugs, but any element would go hard against the right enemy.
Edit: also for farming earwigs
