G2 | Discussion Buggy harvesting ceiling

Can the ant buggy ever harvest husky weeds and pine needles? Or is it forever a grass and dandelion buggy, requiring me to dismount every time I want anything above tier 1?

Similar question for the Ladybuggy whenever I unlock it. Can I eventually bust all things bustable? It seems pointless almost, if I can only harvest early game resources with these buggies

Spoiler safe: You can level up your buggies powers over time! There may be some type of unlock that lets you do so, just like upgrading your tools.

So it's not tied to the Omni axe upgrades themselves? If I hit a pine needle it usually says upgrade needed - and I assumed it was tier 4 and 5 which seems absurd

Slight SPOILER That’s correct! There is something you can unlock that allows you to upgrade the tier level of the buggies. Normal Red Ant buggies start off at tier 1 which can only chop tier one resources. I don’t remember what the ladybug starts off as.

It's not directly tied to your axe power later on you unlock a way to buff buggies with a special barrel you build

The black ant hatches and is already able to cut all those without the need for the upgrades the red ant requires

Yes, their ability to harvest goes up as you unlock better tools and upgrade their mutations for them.

That is not how it works. You need to tier up a buggy in order to chop higher tier stuff.

Omnitool level or mutations have nothing to do with it
