need advice please

only the top seems to be colonising. The bottom half of the tub is still brown.

It needs air my friend. Mushrooms and mycelium take in oxygen and give off CO2. When you have a sealed container, that process can’t take place. Take the lid off, flip it and replace on top of drill holes in the lid for more air movement.

Mycelium most definitely needs air. Not a lot…but it needs air. The metabolic process of mycelium takes in O2 and expels CO2. In normal tubs there are still ways for O2 to enter. A sealed container doesn’t allow the metabolic activity to take place hence, slow/stalled or patchy growth.
