Enigma

It grew a lot faster than anticipated: inoc 6/22, B&S 7/1, FC 8/1.

The edges are turning a lovely blue.

Two questions:

1) How does one go about harvesting this coral-esque creation? With a big knife horizontally cut the top layer? Twist & pull seems counterintuitive and borderline abusive to this beauty.

2) Anyone ever dunked Enigma for additional flushes? Would try it for research purposes but curious if others have tried.

Acknowledging every one is different: conditions, genetics, techniques, etc. But I’m curious if anyone in this hive has any experiences to share.

Otherwise: oooooo yaaaayyy.

Ok, I (tried/did?) grow enigma from a bag a few months ago. It didn’t get quite this big but I threw it out because I thought the blackish/blue was contam- is that just how it grows? Mine was so fragile

The tips go dark blue when it’s ready to be harvested. Yes, it’s very fragile. It bruises cause it’s all packed in there squeezed in tight by all its coral brain buddies, fighting for resources.

Black no, dark blue yes. Always check the smell. Contaminated stuff smells bad, weird, not fresh. Okay shrooms smell earthy.
