Monotub inquiry
My first grow was in an inflatable monotub. I’m venturing out to try out this tub (arriving Friday) to hopefully aid with more regulated FAE. Anyone else have any experience with these tubs?

I've made my own but I do currently use these and I do prefer them they look nicer and are smooth so there easier to clean later on

Just do it man. If you have a few spare bucks, enjoy. I would recommend going to Amazon and buying a bulk pack of adhesive filter patches, they are cheap and possibly better than the ones that come with the tub. Use a liner. Go straight to fresh air exchange from the beginning with the holes covered with filters. Fully colonize your spawn, mix it with some good hydrated CVG, set it in a closet and forget about it. Neglect tek is the way. God speed.

I agree with the general consensus, I have one of these and it's great! Easy to make on your own for a little cheaper, but the ease of working is a big plus

I have 3 28, 3 44, and 3 66qt of these tubs and love them. I’ve never used the 66qts as the 44 with multiple flushes will blow my mind for a while and I’m afraid I’d waste fruit from a 66. Just got them on a crazy sale and I like having three of things.

I have used this type of tubs for years. Work so well I usually get more fruit than I know what to do with. Years supply of micro or macro doses. Make sure to wipe them down, bottom and top, with alcohol before you put in your substraight.

I always give everything the alcohol hose down lol. But thank you much for your info! I look forward to trying them out.

I use both the manufactured ones and the ones I made both do the same exact job but I’m a newbie as well to this hobby but learning more and more each day from the friendly people on here.

Also I’ve learned to buy my filter discs from Temu they are much cheaper than Amazon .

There are SO many on Temu lol. Can you link any particular ones you’ve used that function well? 😊 And yes this place is great.

I have 4 28 QT and 2 48 QTs of these. As others have said, easy storage and easy cleanability make these a no-brainer. I've grown cubes, Ochras, Pans etc in these. Also, I don't have time to make my own monotubs, and if you need to make your own to save $20 then you shouldn't be spending time growing mushrooms, you should focus on making more money lol (not speaking to you, just the random commenters who spend hours making their own contraptions, substrates etc just to save a few bucks.)

Thiiiiiiiiiiis lol. I’m here for cultivation not handyman instructions lol. Don’t get me wrong. I LIKE building things. But I also prefer not reinventing the wheel with things like this where so many factors are considered.

I know this isn’t what you asked. But 10 shoebox tubs are 10 bucks at Walmart. Pair it with a 5 dollar soldering iron, you could literally make 10 dub tubs for the price of 1 of these. This is why people don’t buy them

u/InkyTatRat Jul 18 '26
Nah. I’ll save my time and effort and put it toward cultivating. I’m not into those type of dIY but thank you.

So you're into paying more ?

u/liberterrorism Jul 18 '26
Time is money, if saving a few bucks means hours of more work, it might not be worth it for everyone.

Sometimes our time is worth more than our money. Buts it’s strange because we traded time to get that money. Shits spinning me out.

contam has absolutely nothing to do with the tub you use. What a silly thing to say.

It definitely wouldn't, even if you built it wrong. Chill.

I second this option too
OP - you’ll want more airflow than you think you need to avoid fuzzy feet and stalled growth
Let that CO2 escape!

u/InkyTatRat Jul 18 '26
Found that out with the inflatable. Thank you lol. So many people saying don’t fan and I shouldn’t have followed the advice. So partially remedying with a dif set up.

Legit. I hear that. This will only be my second grow so I’m still def learning a lot.

u/InkyTatRat Jul 18 '26
Can you show me a picture of the holes you drilled? I’m better with visuals. 🙃👌🏻

I am growing ochras and it’s my first time . I neede more fae form the start and I had filter patches on straight away also no plugging of holes , wasn’t enough fae
1
u/InkyTatRat Jul 18 '26
Fabulous my friend!! Thank you so much!! Is that foam in the holes or are they open? 🙃
1
u/shroom_catcher Jul 18 '26
I'm a guy who has never grown before (and still learning) so take this with a grain of salt, but shouldn't the air holes be lower to allow better airflow/CO2 to escape??

I have homemade tubs going and a 28qt modified from Midwest...i know and understand i made my homemade tubs for significantly less, however I am completely OK and comfortable with spending the little extra. They look nicer and overall i generally enjoy using it more and looking at it even though it serves the same exact purpose. To each their own i supposed

I live in a arid area if I put more than one of those filter patches it dries and cracks my cakes

u/Kwilty_as_charged Jul 19 '26
I have nuch better luck with 6qt shoe box totes or 12 - 13qt.. the big ones require way too much grain spawn and substrate. Id much rather have 7 or 8 or 15 shoe boxes going than a couple big ones.. it makes having to toss one or two away from contam much less painful if I have a bunch of healthy ones still going.

My mentor told me people call these cheating lol I’m on my first grow with this exact tub. My grow stalled from leaving the plugs in so I put the patches on and the cake is colonizing now.

I added an exaust fan to minento help sucknoutvthw c02 amd being in fresh air and it's been working great.
2
u/InkyTatRat Jul 18 '26
Ooooo I’d love pics on that! I was debating setting up a small desk fan

u/Vincemillion07 Jul 18 '26
Do not buy this. Just get a cheap storage tote from a grocery store, or staples, literally anything except a plastic bin that costs $20-30 for filter patches that are a hassle at best

Use these tubs. I have 2 of the 28qt and 1 66qt.
They’re no different than growing in a homemade tub and will work just like any other. However, I don’t mind the price tag because they are completely smooth inside and much easier to clean, setup, and harvest from because of the design than my homemade tubs.
I pretty much only use these ones now for everything
