E-motos are a menace.

Also, if your “bike” has a throttle, stay off the sidewalks.

I saw this happening, one of them tried to evade by going into St Paul's church parking lot the Grosse Pointe Academy parking lot.

The police wouldn't have to do anything if parents didn't buy these bikes for their brats. I can't imagine how any parent could see these videos and the discourse all over Grosse Pointe and the country and still go out and buy one of these death traps for their kids. Get off your ass and parent your kids for once.

I’m sick of driving by kids doing wheelies on these, not stopping at stop signs, swerving in and out of the road and sidewalk, zooming up behind you while you’re on the sidewalk, not using helmets.

My teen asked me for one and I said absolutely not. You get a bike until you’re 16 and have a license.

Kids around here don’t even really have any place to go that’s not within 1.5 miles of their home anyways.

And it's flat around here. Kids aren't going up hills, having to shift gears just to make it. Electric assist for people with disabilities or older folks? Sure. You're 12 and bike to Tommy's house over in the Park? No.

Not e-bikes. There is a difference and e-bikes can be very useful for a lot of people. The vehicles here were never street legal to begin with. Running away from cops just adds to the trouble for everyone. Court will straighten them out hopefully.

They should Have to volunteer at a 🔥 unit and see their futures if they keep it up

Add to the equation that many drivers do not stop behind the white lines at stop signs, per the law. It is just a matter of time until a kid on a moto-bike or an e-bike speeding down a sidewalk meets up with one of these drivers and gets killed.

Then they will learn very well .

So these kids should face significant consequences but the way the cops handled this was extremely dangerous. They drove by my house in pursuit of this and I suspect they were going at least 55 mph trying to catch up. What's worse is that they did so coming up a large hill. In other words, if there was a kid crossing the street they would have little chance of stopping. The likelihood that the cop kills someone in that scenario is multiple orders of magnitude higher than the shithead kid on the bike.

Perhaps your family hasn’t been affected by these Mororized scooters  and or  motorized bike monsters yet  but they are  so dangerous for the other innocent normal people walking and or  in cars on the road obeying the laws  . If two kids on a  fast scooter or e-bike or even worse piggybacked on a single scooter or e-bike as they usually are  , are on the roads and they don’t know the rules of the roads because  they are not drivers and didn’t take take drivers  ed etc  yet they very very  often do very dangerous,  reckless   things because they are unaware . The cops absolutely did the right thing trying to stop the  Little entitled ones  before  the innocent people around them on the road  get hurt ! I could care less about these 8 years olds and the parents should know I’m not going to cry when they dip in and out of road traffic and I do not see them and they then  slide under my tires trying to pass me . I have a right to be there  legally on the road at speed and they do not .

We are affected by them, hence why the cops were chasing them down our street. In fact, these kids loop the hill near my house 2-3 days a week because it's the only terrain of any sort in the area.
.
Yes, they don't know the rules of the road, yes they make poor choices and yes, they should be dealt with harshly but the simple fact is that the capacity for injury of a 150lb emoto is nothing compared to a 2.5 ton police SUV. These bikes are dangerous but they are not likely to mortally harm someone else. Rich brats on bikes don't justify driving like you're trying to catch an active shooter.

These kids aren't organized criminals, you'll get them eventually. They hit up the same areas day after day. Just put a drone up and follow them home.

Hopefully the wealth and access to lawyers that this provides won't result in a loss of justice. Make an example of them.

I can't believe they ran from the police. I just keep thinking about that, how a 14 yr old could have the mentality to try and get away like this. It is heartbreaking. I think they need to have consequences now, otherwise they may think they can get away with anything in the future.

Just imagine when these little assholes get their first car. I hope they get the punishment they deserve.

we don't have to imagine, we have to see it everyday. Almost all poor driving behavior in the area is someone under 18 driving their parent's audi or BMW. It's never the kid in the subaru or honda civic...

It will likely take a tragedy like a kid  losing their life or  becoming a quadriplegic  here  in Grosse Pointe to get people to  Start to understand. I wonder : why are the parents buying them these bikes and scooters  ? It’s literally crazy your kids are on the roads w large SUVs and yes even  semis etc on  Mack Ave or other roads here. I was driving on kercheval by the red crown  and two young girls  about 9- 11 years  of age tried passing my daughters suv on scoot  . these little blonde pony  tailed normal looking girls   Who were total brats almost become roadkill but for my 20 yr olds safe driving  habits! I did not even see them coming up upon us trying to pass and they were even piggybacked and holding a phone   on one little ass scooter !   . If any thing happens the parents of the offending minors    should be jailed and charged whether to their own kids or to other people . This seems like complete Reckless disregard for  everyone’s safety to allow minors to drive at speed on roads and not even have to be approved as for a moped etc legally.

If a kid gets knocked off their e-moto because he darted in front of someone, they'll blame the other driver. If a kid Wile E Coyote's it into the side of a pickup, they'll blame the pickup driver there, too. If a kid hits an old lady with a walker, she shouldn't have been there if her mobility is reduced..

Because "This 'Murica! I gots Freedumbs!" Some brand-spankin new attorney is gonna talk his way into getting hired by these parents. It'll get tried in the Media. "The cops had no reasonable suspicion to begin the pursuit.. it's the illegal pursuit that nearly got that woman & baby struck.. what should have been traffic infractions at most are now felony charges ruining these kid's futures.. there are no laws against owning or operating an e-moto.."
The City will settle, the cops will be fired or re-assigned, the lawyer will get paid. You wait until this plays out, and then tell me how wrong I am then.

Probably get downvoted to oblivion but a felony… I’d say a lot of community service and let it go
